US President-elect Donald Trump announced that billionaire Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the “Department of Government Efficiency.”
On November 12, US President-elect Donald Trump announced that he would establish a new department called the “Department of Government Effectiveness,” to promote government efficiency during his second term.
A VNA reporter in New York quoted Mr. Trump's statement saying that billionaire Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the "Department of Government Effectiveness," whose main task is to promote large-scale structural reforms as well as build a new business-oriented approach that the US government has never seen before.
The Hills newspaper quoted experts' analysis that after agreeing with billionaire Musk on the need to establish the new ministry, Mr. Trump will increase the government's responsibility to the people, with the top goal being to immediately achieve spending savings targets from the beginning of 2025.
Mr. Trump is expected to immediately implement a five-step action plan within the first 100 days of his administration through the Department of Government Effectiveness.
On November 12, President-elect Trump continued to announce his nominees for key positions in the next government term. Accordingly, he announced the decision to appoint Mr. Pete Hegseth as the country's Secretary of Defense.
Mr. Hegseth is a former member of the US National Guard who served in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Hegseth has worked for Fox News since 2014, most recently as a host. His nomination to be Secretary of Defense must be confirmed by the US Senate.
In addition, Mr. Trump announced that he had chosen former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe as head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and Mr. William McGinley as White House Counsel.
Mr. Trump also picked two key personnel for his Middle East strategy, including former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as US Ambassador to Israel and campaign donor and real estate investor Steve Witkoff as special envoy to the Middle East.
In addition, US media on November 12 quoted informed sources as saying that Mr. Trump is expected to nominate Republican Governor of South Dakota, Ms. Kristi Noem, as Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS).
Ms. Noem is someone who shares Mr. Trump's views on the issue of controlling the status of undocumented immigrants coming to the US.
Previously, Mr. Trump announced a number of choices for senior officials in the upcoming administration, including Republican Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, Florida Congressman Mike Waltz as National Security Advisor, and Tom Homan in charge of border areas.
In addition, Mr. Trump nominated Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik as US Ambassador to the United Nations.
Mr. Trump is expected to meet with potential candidates to join the upcoming administration before the Presidential inauguration on January 20, 2025./.
