Do Thi Tham, a student of class 12A5, Cua Ong High School, has a very special situation. Her father left when she was young, her mother did not have a stable job, and her family life faced many difficulties. However, Tham did not let her inferiority complex stop her, but always tried to overcome difficulties, achieving the title of excellent student for many years and actively participating in school activities. In that situation, at the end of 2024, Cam Pha City People's Procuracy agreed to sponsor Tham with 1 million VND/month until she finished high school. At the same time, benefactors also accompanied her to help her orient her future career.
The story of Nguyen Thi Anh, a 7th grade student at Suoi Khoang Secondary School (Quang Hanh Ward) also touched many people. Losing her mother at a young age and her father not having a stable job, Anh's life faced many challenges. Through the "Godmother" program implemented by the Women's Union of Cam Pha City, Anh received long-term support for tuition, books, clothes, etc. Nguyen Thi Anh shared: The aunts and uncles in the Women's Union are like my second mother, always loving and caring for me like my own flesh and blood. I will try to study hard to become a useful person for society in the future.
The “Godmother” program in Cam Pha is organized systematically, flexibly and closely to reality. The City Women’s Union has directed the association’s branches to review and update the list of orphans in the area, classifying their circumstances to have appropriate and timely support plans.
In addition, the Association for the Support of Disabled and Disabled Children of Cam Pha City always plays a bridging role between the Association for the Support of Disabled and Disabled Children of the province and philanthropists, to carry out practical support activities for disabled children, orphans and children in difficult circumstances in the area. Gifts such as scholarships, bicycles, school supplies... not only help children have the conditions to go to school, but also give them more motivation to continue their learning journey.
Chairman of the Association for the Support of the Disabled and the Disabled in Cam Pha City, Ha Van Hien, said: We regularly coordinate with local authorities to collect information about orphaned, disadvantaged, and special-circumstances students, make a list, and coordinate with the Association for the Support of the Disabled and the Disabled in the province to mobilize benefactors to join hands in supporting. The top priority is to support disadvantaged orphaned students, from bicycles, school supplies, to sponsorship. From 2023 to now, we have coordinated to sponsor 3 orphaned students with special circumstances in the city.
Not only that, the Provincial Association for the Protection of Disabled and Disabled Children also mobilized units and businesses in the area to join hands to support in kind and gifts for disadvantaged children. In 3 years (2023-2025), the Association for the Protection of Disabled and Disabled Children of Cam Pha City and the Provincial Association for the Protection of Disabled and Disabled Children have mobilized socialized resources to donate to 2,000 people with disabilities, orphans, and children in special circumstances with a total value of more than 2 billion VND. Of which, 1,100 orphans were supported with an amount of over 1.2 billion VND.
With the joint efforts of organizations, individuals and philanthropists, many disadvantaged children in Cam Pha City have been given strength and hope. The gifts and companionship have brought happiness, helping them to be more confident on the path to realizing their dreams.
