Hanoi City honors authors who won prizes in the Writing Contest on advanced role models, good people, good deeds

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. To Quang Phan - Chairman of the Hanoi Journalists Association, Permanent Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest, said that 2023 is the 9th year that Hanoi continues to implement the Writing Contest on typical advanced examples, good people, good deeds. This year's contest continues to receive active participation from units under the City and a number of press agencies. By the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee had received 351 press works and 2,160 articles selected from tens of thousands of grassroots-level entries, the total number of entries increased by 26% compared to 2022.

Evaluating the quality of the entries, Mr. To Quang Phan shared that in general, the entries met the criteria set out in the rules, the articles had appropriate layouts, reflected real people, real events, clearly identified people, clear addresses of residence or study, work. Many entries were beautifully presented, elaborate, creative, with many rich images and illustrative data that were analyzed and closely linked.

Notably, many entries were handwritten neatly and meticulously, expressing the author's respect for the subject and his or her dedication to the contest. For journalistic works, there have also been many changes in presentation, some press agencies have applied modern journalism techniques such as longform and megastory to help the work portray the authenticity of the characters with vivid, beautiful and eye-catching images.

Regarding the content and field of the articles, according to Mr. To Quang Phan, the news and entries mainly focus on discovering, introducing, reflecting and promoting typical advanced examples, which are new factors and new events in various areas of social life in the capital.

Many quality works and articles show good actions, beautiful examples of characters that touch readers and audiences.

In addition, the Chairman of the Hanoi Journalists Association also frankly pointed out the shortcomings and limitations of this year's contest, which are that many participating units are still formalistic and perfunctory, some entries are copied from the internet or taken from previous years' entries, some articles are presented carelessly, sketchily, or do not highlight the good deeds and good deeds of the characters. The results of the work of discovering and promoting typical advanced models, good people and good deeds are not really widespread in all fields, there are still many cases where individuals with good achievements are mentioned in the contest but have not been paid attention to, promptly rewarded and commended by the unit.

Based on the results of the articles and contest entries, the achievements of collectives and individuals in the propaganda work, organizing and implementing the Contest, the Organizing Committee selected 170 press works and articles for the Final Round, and decided to award prizes to 42 authors with outstanding works and articles, including: 02 First prizes, 04 Second prizes, 06 Third prizes, and 30 Encouragement prizes.
