Ho Chi Minh City calls for investment of 2,352 billion VND to build cultural and sports projects

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will hold a conference to call for investment in five projects in the fields of culture and sports under the form of public-private partnership (PPP) with a total investment of nearly VND2,352 billion.

On October 11, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City announced that it will hold a conference to promote investment in cultural and sports projects in 2024 on October 15 at the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee hall.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the purpose of calling for investment is to promote socialization, mobilize the combined strength and social resources, meet the requirements of integration and development, thereby contributing to improving the quality of cultural and spiritual life of people and developing the socio-economy of Ho Chi Minh City.

At the conference, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will introduce the project to develop the cultural industry of Ho Chi Minh City until 2030. At the same time, it will call for investment in 5 new construction projects in the field of culture and sports under the form of public-private partnership (PPP), including: AB Labor Performing Arts Center; Gia Dinh Theater; Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Center; Ho Chi Minh City Cultural and Arts Center in Thu Thiem and Ho Chi Minh City Multi-purpose Cultural and Sports Center in Can Gio District.

As of September 2024, the total investment for the construction of 5 new projects is expected to be nearly 2,352 billion VND.

Specifically, 1,643 billion VND to build a new multi-purpose cultural and sports center of Ho Chi Minh City in Can Gio district to meet development requirements and serve the cultural and sports enjoyment needs of the people.

The center in Thu Thiem (Thu Duc City) is being built with the goal of organizing large-scale cultural and artistic activities, with a capacity of 3,000 seats, but the investment level has not yet been determined.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City also called for investment in the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Center (District 1) with an investment capital of 295 billion VND, Gia Dinh Theater (Binh Thanh District) with 250 billion VND and AB Labor Performing Arts Center (District 5) with 164 billion VND.

Ho Chi Minh City prioritizes mobilizing domestic and foreign social resources, joining hands to build and develop large-scale cultural and sports institutions that meet international standards. From there, promote the goal of developing the cultural industry, orienting it to become a key industry of Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, on July 4, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City announced that it would implement the Cultural Industry project until 2030 and select 8 fields and cultural industries for development.

The project is divided into 2 phases, phase 1 from now until the end of 2025, phase 2 from 2026 to 2030. Accordingly, in phase 1, Ho Chi Minh City focuses on developing into a cultural industrial center of the country, through appropriate investment of resources, encouraging socialization. In particular, focusing on developing a number of industries with existing advantages, contributing a lot of value to Ho Chi Minh City's GRDP such as advertising, exhibitions, cinema, fashion , cultural tourism.

According to the set target, 8 cultural industries will contribute to the socio-economic growth revenue of Ho Chi Minh City by about 148,000 billion VND (by 2025 it will be 53,200 billion VND and 94,800 billion VND by 2030).
