Ho Chi Minh City: An elementary school has many students with stomach aches, suspected of food poisoning

On April 10, Vo Thi Sau Primary School (District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) reported in detail that many students had stomachaches and vomiting.

According to the school's report, on the evening of April 9, at around 6:49 p.m., Ms. Le Thi Minh Hieu, Deputy Head of the Parents' Association of the school and representative of the parents of class 3/2, reported that some parents of classes 3/3, 3/4, and 3/5 reported that some children had stomachaches and vomited.

This morning, April 10, the school's medical department counted and heard reports from homeroom teachers of the upper classes. There were 21 students absent from school for the following reasons: stomachache, vomiting and diarrhea since the night of April 9. Of these, 7 children went to the hospital and were sent home for care and monitoring. Currently, the situation of the 21 children has stabilized. Class 3/6 also just reported that 1 student vomited when coming home, this morning was taken to the hospital for examination and monitored.

From the information learned, the school requested the medical department to keep the food sample from April 9 sealed.

Previously, many parents of Vo Thi Sau Primary School (District 7) reported that their children came home from school on the afternoon of April 9 with symptoms of suspected food poisoning. Some students in grades 2 and 3 had stomachaches, vomited a lot, some had fever all night and were taken to the hospital by their families the next morning. Most of these students had lunch at school.

It is known that the lunch menu on April 9 at the school includes the following dishes: Fried chicken wings with fish sauce, stir-fried chayote with carrots, sour cabbage soup and early afternoon, sterilized fresh milk with strawberry flavor. The school uses meals provided by Xich Long Food Company Limited. The price paid by parents is 35,000 VND/student/day.
