Nam Sai Gon Primary-Middle-High School (District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) has just issued a warning about a new scam targeting parents whose children are about to enter 6th grade and enroll in 10th grade.
Specifically, on the morning of May 7, a series of parents received an urgent notice from the school warning about a scam to install an "online public service" App, but it was actually a virtual App.
Specifically, the announcement of Nam Sai Gon Primary-Secondary-High School clearly stated: Currently, online scammers are taking advantage of the time when primary school students are preparing for the final exam of the second semester, considering the admission scores for secondary school and the entrance exam for grade 10. They have impersonated local police officers of the ward, commune, and town police (even stating the correct name of the local police officer and the neighborhood police officer in charge) to ask parents to update their children's level 2 electronic identification to supplement the procedures and urgent exam records within the day according to their instructions.

Notably, they ask parents to make video calls with images so that they intentionally show parents clips with images of many people wearing uniforms similar to police officers working at the headquarters (in fact, this is a edited clip) to create trust..., then lure parents to install the "online public service" App (virtual App) and instruct parents to install it for their children. During the process, parents accidentally provide their bank account numbers, credit cards... and the most dangerous thing is that parents take photos of their faces and send them to this virtual App, then they will automatically withdraw all the money in the account. Many people have lost from several million to hundreds of millions... It is recommended that when people receive suspicious calls like this, they must call directly to the police station on duty at the ward, commune, town, or local police station managing the neighborhood they are living in to verify and re-check the information, otherwise they will lose both money and reputation.
Also on the morning of May 7, Hiep Binh High School (Thu Duc City) also sent an urgent notice to all parents whose children are currently studying in grade 12 at the school. Specifically, the notice stated:
"Hiep Binh High School has received information: Parents of 12th grade students have received messages/calls from strangers informing them that they need to adjust their students' exam registration information by following the update request in a strange link... After logging in, money was lost in their personal accounts. The school recommends: Parents of students do not follow the requests of strangers. All information is communicated through the school's official channels and through homeroom teachers to parents and students directly. The school absolutely does not ask parents to provide personal information via calls or links of unknown origin. The work of checking and signing the exam registration form is carried out directly by the school with students at school."
The reason for this announcement is that on May 6, the homeroom teacher of grade 12 said that a stranger impersonated a school employee, informing that the information of students registering for the high school graduation exam was incorrect, and that the citizen identification card needed to be updated to level 2 to supplement the records and procedures urgently during the day. Then this person asked parents to contact a phone number provided by this subject, introducing the contact of the ward police to support parents in adjusting and updating... Some parents, because they were worried about their children, followed the request of the impersonator, calling the phone number provided. Immediately after calling this phone number, another subject appeared, claiming to be a ward police officer and instructing parents to set up a level 2 citizen identification card for their children by updating to a strange link provided by this subject.
When the parent clicks on this link, they are asked to scan their face. Immediately after the parent scans their face, all the money in their bank account is deducted. Only then do the parents realize that they have been scammed.
