Schools will base on the criteria issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to select textbooks for the new school year.
According to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the selection of textbooks in general education institutions in the city must ensure two criteria:
Criterion 1 : Suitable for the city's socio-economic characteristics. Specifically: Suitable for political education, ideology, traditions, ideals, ethics, and lifestyle for students; help them absorb and be proud of the city's culture, dynamic, creative, and affectionate traditions; be proud to be citizens of Vietnam; live responsibly towards family, community, and society.
Modern knowledge, regional and international integration, has practical value related to daily life and the environment around students.
Ensuring continuity and conformity with the customs, practices, lifestyles and cultures of Vietnamese people across the country, with attention paid to the customs, practices, lifestyles and cultures of the city.
Responding to the city's educational and training development orientation, building Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city, aiming to train high-quality human resources, meeting international standards, meeting the requirements of regional and international integration.
Encourage students to practice scientific research, promote positivity and proactive learning, develop self-study and research skills; provide open education, create opportunities for students to experience, maximize creativity, acquire and apply knowledge to life.
Ho Chi Minh City sets out two criteria for selecting textbooks.
The second criterion is to be suitable for the conditions of organizing teaching and learning at general education institutions, including:
Appropriate to the capacity and qualifications of the team, management staff, teachers... to serve educational goals, especially in organizing teaching of foreign languages, information technology, STEM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
Suitable for modern facilities and teaching equipment; well respond to and promote the strengths of information technology and communication in organizing educational activities.
Ensure differentiation and diversity of school and class types, create conditions to encourage dedicated, dynamic and creative administrators and teachers; promote capacity and strengths to organize teaching and learning in the direction of promoting students' qualities and abilities; strengthen education in social practice skills.
Actively and openly respond to innovation in organizational forms, teaching and learning methods, testing and assessment towards smart education, approaching international standards and building a learning society.
Based on the two criteria stipulated above by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, according to Circular 27 regulating the selection of textbooks of the Ministry of Education and Training, general schools establish textbook selection councils to ensure democracy, objectivity, publicity, transparency, and for the benefit of students.
