According to the Department of Health , the inspection, examination and timely handling of violations of the law, especially advertising in the medical field, is highly focused on. However, recently, the state management work in the medical field of the Department of Health has also recorded a number of difficulties and challenges in detecting and handling subjects that commit violations of advertising activities in the medical field.

Departments and agencies in Ho Chi Minh City met to agree to eliminate "dirty" medical advertisements on cyberspace.

The Department of Health said that subjects carrying out advertising acts in the medical field tend to take advantage of cyberspace to carry out advertising acts.

That is creating websites, accounts, pages, groups on social networking platforms (facebook, zalo, tiktok, youtube...) to advertise and introduce the provision of medical examination and treatment services, buying and selling pharmaceutical products, medical equipment...

Some individuals also post clips in the form of sharing experiences and knowledge in medical examination and treatment, but through the shared content, they advertise medical examination and treatment activities at the facility.

Impersonating doctors to advertise medical examination and treatment services; posting content and images that challenge state management agencies.

Use images, reviews of online influencers, famous artists or post advertisements on newspaper pages to attract and create trust for people.

Those drastic solution

At the recent meeting, departments and branches discussed and agreed on solutions to help detect, prevent and thoroughly handle violations of the law on advertising in the medical field in the city.

Firstly, the Department of Health continues to strengthen inspection and post-inspection of advertising in the medical field and strictly handle violations.

Second, the Department of Information and Communications shall take the lead in developing tools to manage advertising activities of individuals and organizations in the area, including advertising activities in the health sector. It is recommended that the Ministry of Information and Communications strengthen State management in the field of online advertising, requiring cross-border service providers to be responsible for controlling and removing advertising content that violates the law in the health sector.

Third, the Department of Culture and Sports should strengthen communication to public figures who participate in advertising activities in the medical field, and not participate in advertising activities in the medical field without confirmation of permitted advertising content from the management agency.

Fourth, the Ho Chi Minh City Police continue to coordinate with the Department of Health in ensuring security and order in the health sector. Fifth, the Departments and branches should effectively carry out the work of mobilizing the masses, disseminating andeducating legal knowledge, understanding the methods and tricks of taking advantage of cyberspace to commit violations in the medical field, so that people can raise their awareness of prevention, not use products and services of individuals and subjects who violate the law to improve the effectiveness of social prevention.
