Ho Chi Minh City: Rescued 2 people trapped in apartment fire

Ho Chi Minh City District 5 Police reported that at 4:24 a.m. on May 9, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of District 5 received a fire alarm at an apartment on the 3rd floor of the Vien Dong apartment building (put into use before 1975), No. 107 Tran Hung Dao, Ward 5, District 5. The unit dispatched 3 fire trucks of various types and 17 officers and soldiers to the scene. The fire fighting force deployed a B hose to cool and ventilate the smoke, rescuing 2 injured people (Ms. Tang Diem M, born in 1962 and Mr. Trieu Tan H, born in 1991) and took them to Cho Ray Hospital for emergency treatment.

After the fire, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Region 5 recommended a number of measures to ensure fire safety in households and apartments.

Specifically, regularly check, maintain and promptly repair electrical systems and electrical equipment; prevent overload when connecting or installing additional electrical equipment; turn off all unnecessary electrical equipment before leaving the house or going to bed.

Do not charge electronic devices at night, when unattended. Arrange flammable household items at least 0.5m away from fire sources, heat sources, and electrical equipment.

Carefully supervise and strictly manage the burning of incense, cooking, welding, cutting, smoking, use of fire and heat sources. Ensure escape conditions such as: door keys, escape routes, corridors, stairs, emergency lighting, escape signs, operation of pressurized ventilation systems... to serve escape when an incident occurs.
