That was the affirmation of Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at the celebration of the 79th anniversary of Italian National Day (June 2, 1946 - June 2, 2025) organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of June 2.

Sharing the results of cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and localities of Italy, Mr. Vo Van Hoan said that, on the basis of the good bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Italy, Ho Chi Minh City has always been one of the localities actively promoting cooperation with Italy. Italy is one of the important trade and investment partners of Ho Chi Minh City, with a total two-way trade turnover in 2024 reaching nearly 790 million USD, an increase of more than 30% compared to the previous year. Currently, Italy has 76 investment projects with a total capital of nearly 135 million USD being effectively implemented in the city, ranking 24th out of more than 120 countries and territories investing in the city.
Assessing the relationship between the city and Italian localities, Mr. Vo Van Hoan said that in the near future, after the merger with the two provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau , the scale of Ho Chi Minh City will expand significantly and have more room to develop urban space, industry, logistics and seaports, creating a solid foundation to promote regional connectivity and international integration. Ho Chi Minh City will have many favorable conditions to promote cooperation with international partners, including Italian localities and businesses.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders expressed their belief that, on the basis of strong political trust, effective economic ties, and close people-to-people exchanges that Vietnam and Italy have built, the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership in general, and the cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Italian localities in particular, will increasingly develop for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Enrico Padula, Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, shared the development history of the Italian Republic after 79 years of its founding; said that Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces are the areas with the highest concentration of Italian companies in Vietnam. The presence of more than 100 Italian companies in the consular area is a vivid demonstration of the cooperation for mutual development between Italy and Vietnam.

Mr. Enrico Padula added that Ho Chi Minh City is also home to the headquarters of the Italian Government representative agencies specializing in supporting businesses and the globalization of businesses, aiming to promote economic and trade development between Italy and Vietnam. In the coming time, the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to support the activities of Italian businesses in Vietnam in areas of strength such as machinery, pharmaceuticals, electronics, aerospace, fashion, cuisine, etc.
The Italian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City believes that promoting relations in the field of science will contribute to improving economic and trade relations, promoting cultural cooperation, thereby contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the Italian and Vietnamese people. The presence of the Italian Women's Association in Ho Chi Minh City as well as the strong development on social networks of the Italian language learning community, Italian cuisine lovers... demonstrate the good development in the relationship between the Italian people and the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
