HCMC: 127 people were brought to safety in nearly 2m deep flood

In the early morning of October 23, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Force (PCCC-CNCH), Department PC07, Ho Chi Minh City Police promptly evacuated 127 people, including many children and the elderly, trapped in a flooded area nearly 2 meters deep in Ben Cat ward.

According to information from PC07 Department, at 1:08 a.m. the same day, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area 31 received an urgent report from the Command Information Center - PC07 about a severe flood in a residential area of ​​Ben Cat Ward. The cause was due to prolonged heavy rain causing local flooding of many roads and houses.

Upon receiving the news, the authorities dispatched 3 vehicles (including 1 rescue vehicle and 2 fire trucks) along with 20 officers and soldiers to the scene. The forces were mobilized from the following groups: Ben Cat (10 people), Hiep An (5 people) and Bau Bang (5 people).

Rescue forces have deployed rescue plans at many deeply flooded areas: At group 8, Cau Doi quarter, successfully rescued 7 people; near Mai Thanh Wood Company Ltd. and neighboring houses, assisted in evacuating 100 people; Quarter 5, brought 20 people out of the danger zone.

In heavy rain, fast rising water, strong currents and nearly 2m deep flooding, officers and soldiers made great efforts to overcome difficulties to bring all 127 people to safety.
