Speaking to Dan Tri reporter on May 6, Master, Doctor, Specialist 2 Dinh Phuong Dong, in charge of the Burn and Cosmetic Surgery Department, Trung Vuong Hospital (HCMC), said that recently this place has received a series of cases of severe complications after injecting filler into the body.
The first case is Ms. LTTH (36 years old, living in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), who was hospitalized with abscesses on both cheeks. Taking a medical history, the woman said that 4 years ago, she had filler injections in her face.
Recently, because of unusual symptoms, the patient went to get a filler injection and experienced swelling in her right cheek. Ms. H. went to a hospital for examination and was prescribed medication, but the medication did not help and the redness, swelling, and heat in the injection area increased.

After determining the complication, doctors performed surgery to remove the filler from the patient's face.
The second case is patient TT (24 years old, living in Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City), hospitalized with a diagnosis of vascular occlusion and skin necrosis on the forehead after filler injection.
The patient said that 2 days before, he had a forehead filler injection at a spa, after which he experienced pain and widespread bruising at the injection site. The patient was treated with intensive medical care and had his wound cared for.
The third and fourth cases are two girls named TA (29 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) and MN (23 years old, living in Binh Dinh province) who were hospitalized in mid-April due to complications of abscess and swelling after injecting fillers in the cheek area many times over a long period of time. These patients had surgery to remove the fillers.
The fifth case is patient LTK (39 years old, living in Binh Duong province), with a history of multiple injections of fillers in the lower eyelid - temple - chin area over 5 years.

At the time of admission, the woman had complications of stiffness and pain in the lower eyelids on both sides. The patient underwent surgery to remove the tissue infiltrated with filler and implant the fat dermis.
The sixth case is patient NTKH (31 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City), hospitalized at the end of April because of severe sagging and displacement of the buttocks.
Ms. H. said that 7 years ago, she had filler injected into her buttocks in Thailand, and now serious complications have occurred. After examining and determining the condition, the doctors also performed surgery to remove the filler for the patient.
According to Dr. Dong, despite repeated warnings, there are still people who listen to advertisements from unlicensed cosmetic facilities or from unprofessional people who perform filler injections.
In fact, many cases of improper filler injection into the face have caused blindness complications, because the filler goes straight into the blood vessels, causing blockage of the central retinal artery.

Dr. Dong confirmed that fillers that have penetrated into the subcutaneous tissues cannot be completely removed, and after a period of treatment, complications will occur. Therefore, patients must undergo multiple surgeries, with long treatment times and high treatment costs.
Doctors warn that people who intend to inject fillers for beauty purposes should go to legal medical facilities with qualified medical staff who have been trained in this technique.
"Everyone should be a smart customer. Before performing any beauty treatment, you need to be carefully consulted by a doctor about the possible complications," Dr. Dinh Phuong Dong shared.
