At trial

Previously, Tran Thi Nh. Y. and Nguyen D. T. (born in 1980, residing in Thuan Hoa ward, Hue city) had a conflict over borrowing money to invest in business after their relationship ended. In order to pressure Mr. T. to pay the debt, Y. used her mobile phone through Zalo and Facebook applications to repeatedly post offensive content about Mr. T.

At about 5:00 p.m. on January 29, 2023, Y. invited Vo Thi K. Tr. and Mai Thi Q. Tr. to go to Mr. T.'s mother's house in Thuan Hoa ward to find Mr. T. to collect a debt of 1 billion VND. Here, Y.'s group used a mobile phone to record and broadcast live on Facebook while using vulgar and abusive language to insult Mr. T.'s dignity and honor. At the same time, Y. used the image of Mr. T.'s citizen identification card available on QT's phone to record and broadcast live on social networks, with a video clip duration of more than 5 minutes for many people to watch, like and comment.

The above incident has affected Mr. T's normal life and work, so Mr. T. filed a request to initiate a criminal case.

At the trial, the Trial Panel determined: This is a simple case of complicity, the defendants did not discuss or prepare in advance, they just committed the crime together. In which, Y. was the initiator, the instigator and the executor, so he must bear the main responsibility; K. Tr. and Q. Tr. were the executors who actively supported Y. mentally and materially in committing the crime.

The jury sentenced Tran Thi NY to 6 months in prison, suspended; Vo Thi KT and Mai Thi QT each to 4 months in prison, suspended.

After the court announced the verdict, the victim said they would appeal on the grounds that the sentence given by the court of first instance to the defendants was not satisfactory for the crime of "Humiliating others".
