Ms. Gu Shaoqiang was born in 1980 in Zhengzhou (China). In 2004, she graduated with a degree in Psychology from Henan Normal University (China). Then, in July 2004, she returned to work at Henan Experimental High School. At that time, this was a dream job for many people, but the vicious cycle of 10 years made her start to feel bored and tired.
On April 10, 2015, in the lecture topic Letter to the Future , she asked the 7th graders to write a letter to themselves 2 years later. At this time, she unconsciously thought of herself after 20 years. "At that time, I was 55 years old, which means retirement age." She suddenly realized that life was stable, but this was not what she really wanted and there were still many dreams that had not come true.
"My job at school is very good. I teach students both theory and practice. What they learn can be applied to life. Learning always goes hand in hand with practice. That makes me happy, but life is repetitive from morning to night, making me tired. I don't like standing at the beginning of the alley and being able to see my whole life at the end of the alley," the teacher shared.
So, after class, 20 minutes later, she decided to write a resignation letter. In the resignation letter, she only wrote a few words: " The world is too big, I want to experience it." At that time, her resignation letter quickly spread online, and there were also many mixed opinions. People who did not understand would say that her decision was impulsive, however, her family and colleagues all understood her personality so no one objected.
"The decision to quit my job came to me in a split second. I had anticipated the worst, but I still had to do it. The only thing I had was not courage, but the ability to face life. No matter where I was, I could endure hardship, quickly integrate with people, and live anywhere, so I dared to keep moving forward," she shared.

After 3 days of quitting her job, she took her savings of 11,000 yuan (about 39.6 million VND) to start her journey to explore the world. The first place she visited was Chengdu, then continued to Chongqing, Hangzhou, Shaoxing and many other places. Wherever she went, she immersed herself in the lives of the locals.
In October 2015, she married a man in Yunnan (China). After that, the two opened a homestay for rent. A year after getting married, she and her husband welcomed their first daughter. In 2019, the homestay business was in trouble due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, she quickly switched to livestreaming and online psychological counseling to earn income.
To this day, she remains active on Chinese social media, providing psychological and family education counseling, and even performing stand-up comedy. In an exclusive interview with Zhengguan News , when asked if she regretted her decision, she frankly replied: "I regret it, but I absolutely do not regret it."
Her resignation letter from that year is still on the Internet. Some netizens also expressed regret that she gave up a position considered "a bridge that thousands of people were competing fiercely for", with an ideal working environment and stable income.
Confiding about this, she said: "I don't hate the teaching profession, but I feel that being a teacher at school will hinder many of my dreams. In fact, for the past 10 years, I have been attached to the path of family education and psychological counseling for teenagers."
"Everyone has their own standards for life. For me, a stable job is not the most important. The life I want, my dream, is freedom and a happy family," she added.
