The Lion Championship 22 organizers announced that the match between boxer Nguyen Cong Dung and Pham Duc Thang will not take place as scheduled on the evening of May 10 at Tay Ho Stadium ( Hanoi ).
The reason is that on the day of the weigh-in before the event, boxer Nguyen Cong Dung was 10.3kg overweight compared to the 65kg weight class he registered to compete in. This means that his opponent Pham Duc Thang will not compete. This is a rare and unexpected incident in the world of competitive boxers.

The announcement from the tournament's organizing committee said: "This is a disrespectful act, causing damage to the competition plan, especially affecting the opponent boxer Pham Duc Thang.
The Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation will soon announce the penalty for Cong Dung and the management unit, Kpark Kickfit & Warrior Muay Club.
In contrast to his opponent, Duc Thang said he felt very disappointed after losing nearly 15kg to be able to compete. According to the tournament's rules, if a boxer is more than 2.5kg overweight, the match will be canceled.
The most notable match at the MMA Championship event on the evening of May 10 was the competition between Pham Cong Minh and the Belarusian boxer nicknamed "Thunder God" Zakhar Dzmitrychenka, to defend the men's 84kg championship belt.
Pham Cong Minh won the MMA Championship in December 2023 in this weight class. Zakhar Dzmitrychenka pressed the field to compete in the men's 84kg class. In the wrestling match with Ha Van Hieu in Bac Ninh on May 11, the Belarusian boxer weighed 95kg.
