Implementing the 2025 training plan, from May 26 to June 1, at the 409th Tank Brigade, Military Region 1 organized a driving and shooting refresher course and a vocational skill test for the Armored Forces on training and combat readiness (SSCD) missions in 2025.

Practical training, closely following task requirements

The training course is implemented according to the motto "Basic - Practical - Solid", focusing on the essentials and movements of controlling combat vehicles. Each training content is built close to real conditions, focusing on the ability to flexibly apply techniques, handle emergency situations, and master the vehicle in all circumstances.

Major Phan Thanh Cuong, a driver from the Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command, shared: “This refresher course has helped me practice a lot in handling real-life situations. The training part of wading with the BR-DM2 is really a big challenge, but through that, it also helps me to be more confident and in control when exploiting and operating the vehicle in complex conditions.”

Not only does the training course train “professional skills”, it is also an environment for each student to practice their mettle, discipline and will to overcome difficulties. In the last days of May, the unpredictable rain and sun, slippery terrain and hot weather did not reduce the training spirit. On the training ground, sweat poured down in return for steadiness and proficiency in each control operation. Each student clearly understood their role and responsibility in mastering modern technical equipment and weapons, meeting the increasingly high requirements of training and combat readiness tasks.

At the 409th Brigade's training ground, the training atmosphere was lively and urgent. The T54 and T54B tanks, familiar combat vehicles, were skillfully controlled by the students through difficult exercises such as crossing bridges, ditches, bumpy roads or going up and down steep slopes of up to 20 degrees. Not only requiring solid driving techniques, the exercises also helped students practice their ability to handle situations and control the vehicle when encountering unexpected incidents such as engine failure, loss of control or complex, slippery terrain.

Major Vu Quang Hoa, a student from Warehouse K21, Logistics and Engineering Department, Military Region 1, confided: "Students from warehouses and stations like us often do not have the opportunity to practice driving tanks on complex terrain, so participating in a driving refresher course like this is really useful. Through this, we can consolidate our basic knowledge, improve our professional skills and feel more confident when assigned to use vehicles to carry out tasks."

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Cuong, Head of Logistics and Engineering of the 409th Tank Brigade, affirmed: “The supplementary training course is carefully and scientifically designed, closely following combat practice and suitable for each student. All contents are evaluated strictly and objectively, from theory to practice. The ultimate goal is for students to master techniques, master tactics, handle emergency situations skillfully, and apply them effectively when returning to their work units.”

Solid foundation for mining, training and combat

At the end of the training period, the students of the supplementary class had mastered the system of signs, command signals, operating techniques, and controlling combat vehicles on various types of terrain, both dry and flooded. In particular, the skill of handling unexpected situations - a vital requirement in real combat, was thoroughly practiced by each student through realistic simulation situations.

Class members supplement during the training content implementation.

Major Nguyen Thanh Long, a student from the National Shooting Range Region 1, said: “Through this class, I not only improved my skills but also better understood the combat capabilities of the vehicles. More importantly, I was equipped with a flexible combat mindset, ready to respond to any situation that occurs on the battlefield."

According to Colonel Nguyen Huu Hung, Chief of Armored Forces of Military Region 1, Deputy Organizer of the course: This is not only a process of capacity building but also a basic preparation step, helping the Armored Forces of Military Region 1 always be in the highest state of readiness, qualified to complete well the training and combat missions as well as perform the tasks of participating in natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue.

The training course has ended, but the sense of responsibility, will to rise up and comprehensive maturity of each trainee will continue to spread strongly in the units, which is also a testament to the initiative, creativity and determination to overcome difficulties of the Armored Forces of Military Region 1 in building a strong national defense, firmly protecting the Fatherland in all situations.
