TTH.VN - On the morning of May 17, the Department of Tourism coordinated with Hue City Police to carry out procedures to return 400,000 VND to two tourists when the cyclo driver took the money at a price different from the agreed price.

Previously, on the morning of May 15, 2023, seeing two tourists, Ms. Helen Glover and Mr. Paul Glover (Australian nationality) walking on Le Loi Street, Hue City (in front of Century Hotel), cyclo driver Duong Van C. (residing on Hai Trieu Street, Hue City) came to discuss. After that, the two tourists agreed to let driver C and another driver (name unknown) take them to the Imperial City for 150,000 VND/vehicle.

After that, the two cyclo drivers took the passengers across Truong Tien Bridge, through Dong Ba Market, into Dong Ba Gate, to Tinh Tam Kim Co for the passengers to visit. After that, the cyclo driver offered to take the passengers to Thien Mu Pagoda and the two tourists agreed. After the passengers finished visiting Thien Mu Pagoda, the two drivers took the passengers back to the Imperial City and collected 350,000 VND/vehicle.

The tourists gave the two cyclo drivers a total of 700,000 VND. Unsatisfied with the price increase compared to the previous agreement, the two tourists complained to the Department of Tourism.

After receiving the information, the Department of Tourism coordinated with Hue City Police to verify the incident and invited cyclo driver Duong Van C. to work. At the authorities, the cyclo driver admitted to raising the price compared to the regulations and returned the difference of 400,000 VND.

Receiving the money back, the two tourists were moved to thank the authorities for their quick action in protecting tourists when they arrived at a strange place; helping tourists feel more secure when traveling to Hue.
