Full of red flags and flowers
In the jubilant atmosphere of the whole country, these days, on the streets of Hanoi , the red flag with yellow star is full of colors, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The joyful and exciting atmosphere of the holiday makes everyone feel moved and proud of the heroic history of the nation.

Many young people wearing Ao Dai, traditional costumes, holding flags and flowers, eagerly took souvenir photos on the streets. Groups of young people together recorded beautiful images at Hoan Kiem Lake, the old town or historical sites. The photos are not only memories, but also a link between the past and the present, so that young people can better understand the value of peace . Every smile, every moment captured contains love for the homeland and gratitude to the generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the country.
“We chose to wear Ao Dai and carry the flag to show our pride in our country. This is not only to take beautiful photos but also to convey to everyone the message of love for the country and gratitude to the previous generation who heroically sacrificed for the country to be what it is today,” said Le Thi Thanh from the University of Culture.
On Au Trieu Street, right next to Hanoi Cathedral, the last days of April seem to put on a new coat, brilliant with red. A section of the street is covered with red flags fluttering in the sun, creating a picturesque scene.
Many young people come to the small street not only to preserve beautiful images, but also to get closer to history in a very unique way of today's generation. Each photo, each joyful moment among the bustling crowd on this day is a message: we are grateful, we remember and we have the responsibility to continue.
Seeing the images of young people holding red flags with yellow stars, posing for photos, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lanh (from Bac Giang ) also felt moved. “These days, everywhere in the streets, you can see colorful flags and flowers, creating an atmosphere of excitement awaiting the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. Young people have joined in that atmosphere by recording meaningful moments under the red flag with yellow stars. I am also very happy to bring my family here, to join in the joy and keep memorable memories with everyone,” Ms. Lanh shared.
Not only taking photos, many people also made short clips with revolutionary lyrics, incorporating historical information about April 30. Some groups even created a skit recreating historical moments, simple but full of emotions. Those images, when posted and shared, created a positive ripple effect on the online community.
Telling history in digital language
Along with outdoor activities, cyberspace these days is also filled with the colors of the great holiday. Animated videos, historical podcasts... appear densely on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, attracting attention not only from young people. Familiar melodies such as "Red Blood, Yellow Skin" (DTAP - Erik) and "Continuing the Story of Peace" (Nguyen Van Chung - Nguyen Duyen Quynh) have become popular background music, spreading strongly in the online community.
On the TikTok platform, the remix of “Red Blood, Yellow Skin” performed by Xuan Nam has been used in more than 190,000 videos, mainly patriotic dances, recreating the atmosphere of celebrating April 30 or recording peaceful moments of the country today. Meanwhile, the remix version of the song “Continue writing the story of peace” by Duc Tu has also attracted 37,000 uses.

What makes this trend so appealing is its simplicity and familiarity. With just a few short, easy-to-remember moves, anyone can participate - no need for a grand stage or elaborate equipment. A corner of a room, a school yard, an office hallway or a park lawn is enough to create a video that is vibrant with national colors and full of pride.
With creativity, enthusiasm and love for their homeland, young people not only preserve historical memories, but also breathe new life into April 30, making it an occasion to honor the glorious past and spread the aspiration to build the future.
Dr. Vu Minh Giang - Chairman of the Scientific Council of Hanoi National University, shared that the event of April 30 is a heroic milestone in the history of Vietnam. In Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many other localities, the atmosphere of preparing for the holiday is filled on every street. The image of young people eagerly recording the commemorative moment is also understandable and worthy of respect. With proud footsteps, bright smiles in the heart of the city, young people are continuing the story of the indomitable spirit, the aspiration for peace that many generations of fathers and brothers have
That is the source of strength of the Vietnamese people when entering the era of strong development. Vietnam has overcome countless difficulties and challenges and will certainly rise even stronger. The phenomenon of young people eagerly awaiting the great festival is a living proof of that belief.
Every photo, every video, every share on social networks are small but valuable pieces, contributing to reminding people of the sacred value of independence and freedom.
