“With the attention and direction of the central ministries, branches, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee, border work in the province has been carried out very smoothly and achieved many results. The system of border lines and border markers (35 main markers, 92 secondary markers, 63 markers) has always been strictly managed, ensuring compliance with the current status stipulated in the 2019 Border Demarcation and Marker Planting Protocol. In the coming time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is requested to advise the Governments of the two countries to soon agree and issue an Agreement on the Vietnam-Cambodia land border regulations, replacing the 1983 Agreement on the border regulations, ensuring a legal basis, as a basis for functional forces to perform the task of firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security" - Colonel Tran Quoc Khanh (Commander of the Provincial Border Guard, Deputy Head of the Provincial Border Work Steering Committee) informed.
Chairman of the National Border Committee (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Trinh Duc Hai recently led an interdisciplinary working delegation to work with the Border Steering Committee of An Giang province, surveying areas where border demarcation and marker planting have not been completed, and discussing the coordination in implementing border work. After the working sessions, comrade Trinh Duc Hai praised: “The work of border management and protection of the province has been carried out very well, with close coordination between central and local ministries and branches. The working delegation fully acknowledged the recommendations of the province. We request that the province continue to report more clearly on difficulties and problems, and send them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a basis for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work with relevant ministries and branches, and advise the Government to issue appropriate policies”.
In the province, there are currently nearly 22km of un-demarcated border in the field (more than 20km on land; 1.7km on river), equivalent to 22.2%, in Tan Chau town, An Phu district, Chau Doc city.
