(BGDT) - In order to accompany, support and encourage the will to overcome difficulties and develop the economy of Youth Union members, the National Employment Fund through the Central Youth Union channel (abbreviated as the Fund) has helped many young people start successful businesses.

Effective models

Born and raised in a farming family, since childhood, Nguyen Van Lan (born in 1986) in Nui village, Dinh Tri commune (Bac Giang city) often helped his parents take care of the family flower field. Loving farming and wanting to try measures to improve productivity and flower quality, he experimented with growing cut flowers and clean vegetables. However, these methods took a lot of work and the profit was not worth it. Not discouraged, Lan continued to learn about some ornamental plant growing models that brought high economic efficiency in provinces such as Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh . From the knowledge he had, he decided to switch from growing flowers in beds to growing in pots in greenhouses. However, at that time, his capital was still limited.

Understanding the member's intention to start a business, in 2021, Bac Giang City Youth Union proposed to support him with a preferential loan of 100 million VND from the Fund. Thanks to that money and the help from relatives and friends, he invested in seedlings, care tools, automatic irrigation systems, and expanded the garden area from 2,000 m2 to 5,000 m2. With diligence and hard work, his crops multiplied day by day.

Currently, in his greenhouse there are more than 6 thousand potted plants, indoor ornamental plants, garden plants such as: orchids, pothos, white horse, mountain fortune, areca palm, snow mountain... More than half of them are self-grown, the rest are imported from other gardens to wholesale and retail to customers. Every year, the garden generates more than 2 billion VND in revenue, creating regular jobs for 4 workers with an income of 6-7 million VND/month. During peak periods, he hires 10-15 more seasonal workers.

Also having the desire to get rich, but when working as a carpenter, Dang Thi Quynh (born in 1991) and her husband in Xuan Dong village, Xuan Phu commune (Yen Dung) only had enough to cover living expenses. Therefore, when the Commune Youth Union advised them to borrow capital to raise livestock to develop the economy in December 2022, they boldly did it. From 95 million VND borrowed from the Fund, Quynh and her husband bought 4 cows. With good care, the herd has given birth to 1 litter and is about to give birth to the next litter. After about 4 months of care, each calf can be sold for 15-20 million VND. Quynh said that the money earned from the calf will be used to multiply the breeding herd. Thanks to this loan, her family's economy has improved.

In the province, there are currently many youth economic models that bring high economic efficiency, creating jobs for local workers such as: The transportation business project of union member Dao Ngoc Quang (born in 1990), Song Khe 2 village, Song Khe commune (Bac Giang city); the livestock model of Mr. Le Van Phao (born in 1989), in Ho Dau village, Cam Ly commune (Luc Nam); the high-tech clean agricultural model of Mr. Nguyen Van Thuc (born in 1987), in Chau village, Bao Dai commune (Luc Nam)...

Create motivation to get rich

Currently, in the province, there are nearly 400 cooperatives, cooperative groups, models of good economic youth, and youth-owned enterprises that are effectively maintained. To support young people in economic development and start-ups, the Provincial Youth Union has paid attention to connecting and guaranteeing preferential loans to implement projects through a number of capital sources.

By June 2023, the total outstanding balance of the incentive program to support young people in the province to start a business from the National Employment Fund through the Central Youth Union, the Provincial People's Committee and the district level is nearly 21 billion VND with 170 projects. This capital source solves many jobs, contributes to uniting and gathering local youth, and building a strong homeland.

By June 2023, the total outstanding balance of the incentive program to support young people in the province to start a business from the National Employment Fund of the Central Youth Union, the Provincial People's Committee and the district level is nearly 21 billion VND with 170 projects.

In order to effectively implement and create large resources for project implementation, the Provincial Youth Union has integrated the program, conducted appraisals, and supported union members in building business development strategies.

According to Mr. Bui Van Hoang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union directed the district and city youth unions to closely coordinate with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) to disburse capital, ensuring the completion of the credit plan targets. This capital source focuses on prioritizing loans for business models, cooperatives, production and business establishments, cooperative groups, and farms that attract a lot of labor, creating jobs for young people; combining lending with building new models for young people. In addition, the Provincial Youth Union coordinates with relevant units to monitor the disbursement process and use of capital sources.

Many projects and models of the Youth Union have effectively promoted the use of capital, contributing to increasing productivity, expanding scale, building more barns and factories, applying technical advances in production and business. Thereby, creating more jobs for local youth, contributing to uniting and gathering young people to participate in local union and association activities.

Although there have been certain results in supporting young people to start businesses, the disbursement limit for support capital for young people from the National Employment Fund and the Provincial Social Policy Bank is still low. For unsecured loans, young people can only borrow a maximum of 200 million VND. In addition, the work of propagating and disseminating the State's support policies for startups and guiding young people in need of applying for loans in some localities is still limited.

To overcome this, the Provincial Youth Union continues to direct district and city youth unions to coordinate with the Bank for Social Policies to review and select feasible economic models to guide the preparation of dossiers, helping young people access capital sources; prioritize loans for business models, cooperatives, production and business establishments, traditional craft production complexes, and farms.

Along with capital support, the Provincial Youth Union directs district and city youth unions to coordinate with units and the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association to train, transfer and apply science and technology to production. In addition, it orients business and builds an economic development roadmap suitable to local conditions and internal resources. At the same time, it connects and helps young people build business relationships, expand knowledge, business scale and production in many industries and fields.
