Emperor Le Thai To (1385 - 1433), real name Le Loi - Hero of national liberation, leader of the Lam Son uprising, founder of the Later Le dynasty. He was born and raised in Lam Son (now Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province). From a young age, Le Loi showed his intelligence, courage, and virtue.

In 1416, Le Loi and 18 close friends held the Lung Nhai oath. In 1418, Le Loi raised the flag of uprising, proclaimed himself Binh Dinh Vuong, and was supported by people and heroes everywhere. Under the talented leadership of General Le Loi, the Lam Son uprising grew stronger and stronger, becoming an elite army with organization, discipline, and close ties with the people. After 10 years of arduous fighting, "tasting honey and lying on thorns", the Lam Son uprising was completely victorious, and the country was reunited.

On April 15, Mau Than year (1428), Binh Dinh King Le Loi ascended the throne as Emperor, took the reign name Thuan Thien, named the country Dai Viet, and established the Later Le dynasty.

During his reign, King Le Thai To established laws, established rituals and music, held examinations, trained talented people, established guards, established officials, established districts and prefectures, restored the economy, restored production, and distributed land through the military land policy... This opened a period of independence, autonomy, and prosperity for the Dai Viet Nation - the most brilliant and longest-lasting dynasty in the feudal history of Vietnam.
