On November 3, the Office of the State Council of Professors officially announced the list of 825 candidates who have received enough votes of confidence to be recognized as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 26 fields and interdisciplinary fields. Candidates in the fields of Security Science and Military Science belong to special fields and are not public.

Among them, the two youngest candidates who met the standards for the title of associate professor in 2025 were Dr. Do Quang Loc (lecturer at the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh (chief researcher at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology).

Coincidentally, both were born in 1992 (33 years old) and are both former students of the University of Science ( Hanoi National University).

Dr. Do Quang Loc: Young scientist in the field of microelectromechanics and biomedical devices

Dr. Do Quang Loc was born on November 7, 1992 in Bang Mac commune, Chi Lang district, Lang Son province. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Modern Electronic Engineering from the University of Science (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) in June 2014. In December 2019, at the age of 27, he successfully defended his PhD thesis in Physics, specializing in Radio Physics and Electronics, also at the USSH.

With good foreign language skills, Dr. Loc used to teach Digital Signal Processing Theory in English and holds many international certificates such as IELTS 6.0, TOEIC 780 and VSTEP B2.

Dr. Do Quang Loc started working at the Faculty of Physics, VNU University of Science in September 2014. In 2016, he was officially appointed as a lecturer. In March 2023, he held the position of Deputy Head of the Department of Radio Physics, the highest management position he has ever held at this unit. Currently, Dr. Loc is a lecturer at the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Technology (VNU).

Dr. Do Quang Loc's main research direction focuses on researching, designing and manufacturing advanced microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and microfluidics for biomedical applications, along with developing and optimizing electronic circuits and signal processing systems for biomedical devices. He has completed a ministerial-level science and technology task and a grassroots-level task. In particular, the grassroots-level topic "Research and development of a sensor to detect conductivity in a microfluidic channel based on the principle of LC passive wireless sensors" was accepted with excellent results in August 2020.

Talking to Knowledge and Life, Dr. Do Quang Loc said that so far he has published 58 scientific articles, of which 24 were published in prestigious international journals. After defending his PhD, he is the main author of 7 international articles. In addition, he is a co-author of a utility solution patent granted on January 25, 2022, entitled "Microfluidic device for detecting A549 lung cancer cell line and the process for detecting this lung cancer cell line".

Dr. Loc has more than six years of teaching and research experience, and has successfully supervised two graduate students to defend their master's theses. He also participated in developing the Bachelor of Electronics and Information Technology training program at VNU, which will be applied from the 2020-2021 academic year.

During his career, Dr. Do Quang Loc has received many titles and awards, including a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training for winning the Second Prize in Physics in the National Excellent Student Competition in 2010; a Certificate of Merit from the Director of VNU for his excellent academic achievements in 2014; a Typical Young Face of VNU in 2016; the title of Outstanding Young Teacher awarded by the Hanoi Youth Union in 2021; a Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in 2022; a Certificate of Merit from VNU for achievements in scientific research and innovation in 2024; and the title of Ministerial-level Emulation Fighter of the Ministry of Education and Training in 2024.

In the application for recognition as Associate Professor, Dr. Do Quang Loc said that during his work, he always trained and strived to meet the standards of a university lecturer. He stated: "I consider myself to have all the standards of a teacher such as always maintaining and cultivating moral qualities, having a steadfast ideological stance, constantly studying, striving to improve knowledge and update information on expertise and profession, ensuring good health to meet professional requirements, having a clear and transparent personal background."

Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh: A young face in biological compound research

According to the registration records made public by the State Council of Professors, Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh is from Thanh Hoa province.

Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh received a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, majoring in Organic Chemistry from the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi on June 23, 2015. On July 9, 2020, he received a PhD in Chemistry, majoring in Molecular and Macromolecular Chemistry from the University of Rennes 1, France.
