China issues warning to travelers to the US

China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has advised Chinese tourists to fully assess the risks and exercise caution when traveling to the United States, citing the recent deterioration in US-China economic and trade relations.

Xinhua news agency on April 9 quoted an announcement from the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism issuing recommendations for Chinese tourists traveling to the US.

The ministry's notice noted that Chinese tourists need to "fully assess the risks and exercise caution when traveling to the United States," citing the recent deterioration in China-US economic and trade relations as well as the security situation in the United States.

The recommendation was made in the context of trade tensions between the US and China continuously escalating after the US imposed reciprocal tariffs and additional tax measures of up to 104% on goods from China.

In response, Beijing announced it would impose tariffs of up to 84% on goods from the US from April 10, up from the previously announced 34%./.
