Talking to us, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quyet said that since he was a child, thanks to the time he spent living with his father in the unit, he learned discipline in work and the love and mutual support in the lives of soldiers. “My father spent 42 years in the Army, he participated in the liberation of the South and fought to protect the northern border. At the end of 1989, due to natural disasters, my whole family moved from our hometown in Son Le commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province to near my father's unit. When we first arrived in Hung Yen, my family encountered many difficulties, from where to live to where to study. However, thanks to the care and help of the commander and comrades of my father's unit, my family was able to borrow a small room in the unit to live. It was also here that I learned a very serious working style from my father and his colleagues,” Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quyet said.

With love and admiration for the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers, right after graduating from Hanoi Law University in 2008, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quyet volunteered to attend reserve officer training to work long-term in the Army.
In 2009, he was assigned to work at the Military Court of Military Region 3. Comrade Quyet has held many positions such as Secretary, Judge of the Military Court of Military Region 3 and Judge, Head of the Administrative Board of the Military Court of Military Region 3. Along with his work, he has always actively studied and successfully completed training courses: Master of Law at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (from 2011 to 2013), trial practice at the Court Academy (from 2016 to 2017), Senior Political Theory at the Academy of Politics ( Ministry of National Defense ) from 2021 to 2022.
Meeting Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quyet in his office with piles of case documents higher than his head, we could understand the meticulousness, seriousness, and hard work of the officers working in the trial. “On average, each case usually has more than 3 boxes of documents, with a capacity of tens of thousands of pages. We have to study carefully, meticulously, and evaluate everything comprehensively, because as court officers, we must always be aware that each verdict we and our colleagues issue affects the political life, future, fate, and honor of many people,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quyet.

During his time on trial duty, he remembers most in 2023, when he was newly appointed by the President as a Judge of the Military Court of Military Region 3, he was assigned to research and resolve a particularly serious and complicated case. That was the case of Choong Van Thang and his accomplices being prosecuted for 4 crimes including: "Murder", "Robbery", "Organizing illegal use of narcotics" and "Illegal trading of narcotics". At the same time, the Chief Justice of the Military Court of Military Region 3 directed the organization of a mobile trial of the case at the unit.
Because at this time, drug crimes are complicated. When studying the case file, comrade Quyet realized that this was a difficult case because the crime occurred late at night. Especially for the crimes of "Organizing illegal drug use" and "Illegal drug trafficking", which are pending cases, the crime methods are sophisticated, the traces of the crime are few, and the evidence is insufficient. The defendant who sold drugs continuously filed petitions of innocence throughout the investigation, prosecution, and trial.
Therefore, in addition to the daily work of the Administrative Board, he has made an effort to spend a lot of time, even working late at night, to research the case. At the same time, he also actively learned and consulted with experienced judges to make a comprehensive assessment to resolve the case with the right person, the right crime, and the right law, avoiding wrongful convictions or letting criminals escape. Based on the research results, he proposed to return the file for further investigation, collecting and clarifying evidence of the defendant's crime. The Procuracy agreed to conduct a further investigation according to the Court's resolution, determined to fight to bring the criminal to justice. With the correct direction of the further investigation, the defendant had to bow his head, admit his guilt, and confess all his crimes.
