Dong Son 1 High School, formerly Dong Son High School, was established in August 1965, located in the two former communes of Dong Xuan and Dong Thinh. In the first school year, the school had 9 classes with more than 400 students, 20 teachers and staff, with Mr. Vu Danh Lan as principal.

After 60 years of construction and development, Dong Son 1 High School has always cared about building a team of staff and teachers, innovating teaching methods, promoting scientific research, investing in facilities, becoming a cradle of training and nurturing talents for the homeland and country.
From this school, many former students have become famous scientists, academicians, professors, associate professors, doctors, engineers, doctors, writers, poets, journalists, and excellent teachers. Many students of the school have won high prizes in national competitions for excellent students, and have been valedictorians and salutatorians at the provincial level with high scores in the high school graduation exam and annual university and college entrance exams.
In particular, in recent years, Dong Son 1 High School has always ranked among the top high schools in the province in terms of educational quality.
Authorized by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the representative of the Department of Education and Training presented the Emulation Flag of the Provincial People's Committee to Dong Son 1 High School.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Thi Ha, Principal of Dong Son 1 High School, shared: The current context of globalization, along with the innovation policy of the Party, the State and the Education and Training sector, requires teachers and students of the school to unite, strive to compete in teaching well and studying well, quickly adapt to the innovations of the 2018 General Education Program, and at the same time, strengthen education on ethics, lifestyle, life skills... for students.
The school hopes to continue to receive the attention and direction of all levels and sectors, the joint efforts of local people and parents to continue to promote tradition and write new glorious pages of history, to be a bright spot in Thanh Hoa's education.
The Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Son ward presented a banner with the words: "Dong Son 1 High School promotes the glorious tradition - Solidarity - Discipline - Creativity - Development".
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its founding, Dong Son 1 High School was honored to receive the Emulation Flag from the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province for its outstanding achievements in leading the emulation movement in the 2024-2025 school year; Dong Son Ward People's Committee presented a banner with the words: "Dong Son 1 High School promotes the glorious tradition of Solidarity - Discipline - Creativity - Development."
