The event brought the warm atmosphere of Tet Reunion, and at the same time, lit the fire of love and pride in the mother tongue in the young Vietnamese community abroad.
Spreading the love of Vietnamese to overseas Vietnamese
The exchange session "Learning together, loving Vietnamese together" took place in a warm and close atmosphere, revolving around the role of language in preserving identity and connecting the Vietnamese community abroad.
At the meeting, many inspirational stories were shared, such as the journey of "keeping the Vietnamese language alive" in a foreign land of Ms. Le Thuong - President of the General Association of Vietnamese in the Kansai region, Principal of Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School.
With the passion of a person who has devoted her whole life to community education, she believes that the school's motto is always "teaching history and culture before teaching letters". Because if children cannot feel the music , fairy tales, history and beauty of national culture, then learning Vietnamese will only stop at the level of learning a foreign language.
It is love of culture and national pride that is the fire that helps children keep their mother tongue in their souls.
From an international perspective, Professor Shimizu Masaaki (Osaka University) and friend Brad Leathers affirmed that Vietnamese language not only belongs to the Vietnamese people, but is also a source of inspiration for friends around the world to learn and appreciate.
Professor Shimizu said that it was the interesting similarities between Vietnamese and Japanese that led him to research this language, thereby increasing his love for Vietnamese culture.
He advised students to maintain learning Vietnamese every day, to better understand and be proud of their homeland and origins.
The exchange ended emotionally when the students sang together "As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day" and "Marching Song" at the Vietnam Exhibition House in Japan. Music became the thread connecting the Vietnamese heart, lighting up the love for the homeland in the hearts of overseas Vietnamese.
On this occasion, Director of Vietnam Exhibition House Do Lan Phuong presented Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School with a valuable set of books about President Ho Chi Minh , enriching teaching materials and fostering patriotism and love of Vietnamese language for the young generation of Vietnamese in Japan.
Space Tet Warm Mid-Autumn Festival for children
Following the exchange program, the Mid-Autumn Festival program for students - the second and third generations of the Vietnamese community in Japan, together with international friends, a warm Mid-Autumn Festival space imbued with Vietnamese spirit at the Vietnam Exhibition House.
The program recreates the full flavor of the Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival, where the full moon is associated with family love, joy and childhood dreams. Children enjoy traditional candies, immerse themselves in the bustling sound of lion dance drums and the sparkling star lantern procession.
The appearance of Hang and Cuoi makes the space more magical, lighting up innocent smiles on children's faces.
In particular, artists and lecturers from the Vietnam National Academy of Music brought to the musical space full of the colors of the homeland. In the resounding K'long put, the melodious Dan Bau and the deep sound of Dan Nhi, the children seemed to touch the soul of national music.
The unique water puppet show performed by Meritorious Artist Nguyen Ngoc Triu also attracted attention, and helped children understand more about this unique folk art form with a history of more than a thousand years.
Mid-Autumn Festival and Learning and Loving Vietnamese Together have left a deep impression, contributing to affirming the role of the Vietnam Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka.
Not only is it a place to promote the image of Vietnam's country and people to international friends, the Exhibition House is also a warm common home, connecting the Vietnamese community living abroad.
