On April 26, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, principal of Ba To Town Secondary School (Ba To District, Quang Ngai ), reported the case of a male student who was electrocuted to death while performing.
Before the male student was electrocuted, many students heard a "numbness" under their feet.
Accordingly, to organize the performance, the school contacted and rented the entire sound, lighting, and stage package from Mr. Tran Dinh Thinh (residing in Ba Dong commune, Ba To district).
On April 24, Mr. Thinh came to the school to assemble the stage. On the morning of April 25, he continued to assemble the music and test the program. On the afternoon of April 25, he continued to complete the stage (installing lights and decorations).
Around 4pm on April 25th, it rained heavily and stopped at 5pm. Some classes went out to rehearse the performance but there were no problems.
At around 7:20 p.m., the official cultural program began. At around 8 p.m., Mr. Ngo Huu Hoa, a teacher at the school, informed the principal that he had heard students say that their feet were numb, as if there was an electric shock.
Upon receiving the information, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc immediately asked Mr. Tran Dinh Long Vu to check and fix the problem immediately.
“A few minutes later, I personally asked Mr. Vu, “Have you checked and fixed the electrical system yet? Is it safe?” Mr. Vu replied, “I have checked and fixed everything, so don't worry,” the report stated.
The performances continue.
In the report, Mr. Loc said that after hearing Mr. Vu say that he had checked and fixed the problem, he took out his phone and received a text message from Ms. Thuy (a former teacher at the school) with the content: "Student got electrocuted. Please report to the sound department to check the electricity on the stage."
Thinking the matter had been resolved, the principal replied, "Yes, sir."
At around 9:30 p.m. the same day, Mr. Loc received a phone call from Mr. Nguyen Van Than - vice principal of Ba To town secondary school - reporting the incident.
At this time, Mr. Loc ran to the scene and saw the teachers actively giving first aid to student TCT (class 9C). At the same time, he called the Ba To District Medical Center; Ba To Town Police used a public vehicle to take male student T. to the medical center immediately.
Despite emergency efforts, 30 minutes after arriving at the medical center, the doctor announced that T. had died.
Police work with stage, sound and lighting service units
The school board has worked with Ba To town police and Quang Ngai province police regarding the incident.
Quang Ngai Provincial Police also worked with members of the sound and light rental service to investigate and find the cause of T.'s death, initially suspected to be due to electric shock.
Currently, the school's pedagogical council has urgently met to stabilize the morale of teachers and students. At the same time, it is calling for donations to support and share the pain of T's family...
Previously, Tuoi Tre Online reported that TCT, while performing, touched an iron pillar on stage and fell. Seeing the incident, many people rushed to pull T. but were all electrocuted and had to move away.
Some others rushed to cut off the power. Despite emergency efforts, T. did not survive.
A video recording the heartbreaking incident was also circulated on social networks.
