Head of the Central External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung visits and works in Singapore

At the invitation of Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, from January 7 to 11, Comrade Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central External Relations Commission, visited Singapore and spoke at the S. Rajaratnam Dialogue 2025 (SRED 2025) organized by the Yousof Ishak Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS).

During the visit, Comrade Le Hoai Trung paid a courtesy call to former Prime Minister, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is also Senior Advisor to the ruling People's Action Party (PAP); met with Assistant Secretary-General of the PAP, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing; worked with Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan; met and discussed with Chairman of Temasek Group Lim Boon Heng, Executive Director of Temasek Foundation Ng Boon Heong, Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy Danny Quah and Director General of the ISEAS Institute Choi Shing Kwok. The delegation also laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Monument, visited a number of economic and cultural establishments and talked with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore.

At meetings with senior Singaporean leaders, Comrade Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Central External Relations Commission, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore, the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the PAP, large-scale investment projects and human resource training cooperation programs as well as coordination in international issues. Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to continue promoting the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership.

Speaking at the "S. Rajaratnam Dialogue", comrade Le Hoai Trung discussed Vietnam's important achievements after 40 years of renovation, Vietnam's foreign policy, and long-term development goals in Vietnam's new era, the era of striving for wealth and prosperity of the Vietnamese people.

During the meetings and discussions, the two sides were pleased to assess that the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership has continued to develop strongly, effectively and comprehensively in recent times. The two countries continue to be each other's leading economic partners, with many positive results in economic, trade, investment and connectivity cooperation. On that basis, Comrade Le Hoai Trung and Singaporean leaders agreed to promote the implementation of high-level agreements between the two countries, including the results of the recent phone call between General Secretary To Lam and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, increase the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels, effectively promote existing cooperation mechanisms to exploit more effectively and substantially the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
