On December 16th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training held the closing ceremony and awarded prizes for the City-level Vocational Skills Competition and the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Self-Made Training Equipment Competition - 2025.
At the ceremony, Ms. Truong Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, stated that vocational education in Ho Chi Minh City, after the merger, has demonstrated dynamism and enormous development potential, clearly evidenced by the increasing number of participants in each competition.

Huynh Viet Hung, a student from Cao Thang Technical College, won first prize in the 2025 City-level Vocational Skills Competition (electronics category).

The 2025 City-level Vocational Skills Competition saw a record number of participants, with 245 contestants from 31 universities, vocational training institutions, and businesses.
"Through these two competitions, the academic spirit, creativity, and application of scientific and technological achievements have been strongly disseminated within the vocational education and training system of Ho Chi Minh City. This is a solid foundation for the development of scientific research activities in the units," Ms. Thanh said.
In the first City-level Vocational Skills Competition - 2025, 13 individual contestants and 1 group of contestants won first prize in 14 different trades. Hung Vuong Vocational College of Technology excelled, winning 3 first prizes. Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, Cao Thang Technical College, Saigontourist Tourism and Hotel Vocational College, and Nguyen Tat Thanh Vocational College each won 2 first prizes.
At the first Ho Chi Minh City Self-Made Training Equipment Competition - 2025, the organizing committee awarded three first prizes to three groups of authors.
In particular, Ly Tu Trong College in Ho Chi Minh City won first prize with two devices: a multi-functional refrigeration system with monitoring, control, and automation based on Industry 4.0 technology and a Fiber Laser machine model; Ho Chi Minh City College of Transport won first prize with its intelligent railway crossing monitoring and control system.
Dr. Hoang Van Viet, Head of the Training Management and International Cooperation Department at Ly Tu Trong College in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the school had 4 out of 7 equipment models participating in the competition that won awards.
"This is a very encouraging result, affirming the outstanding research capabilities and creativity of the school's faculty," Dr. Hoang Van Viet expressed.

The multi-functional refrigeration system with monitoring, control, and automation based on Industry 4.0 technology won first prize with 98 points.

Ms. Truong Hai Thanh presented certificates of merit to the 6 units with the best achievements in the Self-Made Training Equipment Competition. Among them, Ly Tu Trong College in Ho Chi Minh City continued its success by winning first place overall.
Sharing about the model of a multi-functional refrigeration system with monitoring, control, and automation based on Industry 4.0 technology, Dr. Hoang Van Viet said that the team had spent more than 11 months researching it. This is a multi-functional, multi-tasking device that not only serves cooling and heating needs but also has the ability to recover waste heat to protect the environment.
This model is designed to suit various educational levels, allowing for customizable parameters and remote control via smart devices, thereby improving the quality of training, staying close to reality, and promoting self-learning and research among lecturers and students in line with modern technology.
At the awards ceremony, Ms. Truong Hai Thanh advised the students selected to participate in the national-level competition to regularly cultivate new specialized knowledge and in-depth professional skills to achieve high results at the national level, as a basis for selection to participate in the ASEAN regional and international arenas.
