According to the report, after Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine announced the results of doctoral admission on September 30, 2025, some information appeared on social networks claiming that "there were problems in the admission process", focusing on the case of candidate Au Nhat Huy (born in 2001) who was admitted to the PhD program in medicine.

Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine affirmed that this information was shared on many forums, affecting the reputation of the school. Immediately after receiving the information, the school established a working group to review the entire doctoral enrollment process in 2025, according to Decision No. 3983/QD-TĐHYKPNT dated October 6, 2025.
On October 9, the 2025-2026 Graduate Admissions Council met, reviewed and concluded that the admission process was carried out in accordance with current regulations. The review results showed that the admission process was carried out in accordance with regulations, including public announcement of admission, valid candidate profiles, and checking of exam conditions (degrees, foreign languages, scientific works) in accordance with regulations.
In 2025, the school has 31 candidates applying for 4 majors: Surgery, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Otolaryngology. The entire process of thesis defense, scoring and admission is organized publicly and transparently, with full minutes of the council meeting.
Regarding the case of candidate Au Nhat Huy, the school confirmed that the candidate's name was on the admission list, his application was valid and he achieved the required score. Regarding the fact that his relatives work at the school, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Khanh Tuong (the candidate's mother) did not participate in any activities during the 2025 graduate admission process, complying with the principle of excluding conflicts of interest according to current regulations.
Regarding the scientific articles in the application, the school said that all were published in journals in the list of scientific journals that are scored in 2025 according to Decision No. 26/QD-HDGSNN dated July 11, 2025, meeting the criteria of "research experience" according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .
At the time of application, the candidate had 8 scientific articles (5 domestic articles, 3 international articles in the Scopus category), the total converted score was 11 points, but according to regulations, only a maximum of 10 points was counted, with an average total score of 88.8 points.
Previously, on October 8, the school received information that an international article in the candidate's application was withdrawn from the journal by the main author. After adjustment, the candidate still had 7 valid articles, the converted score was 9.5 points, the average score was 88.3 points but did not affect the admission result.
The school affirmed that the 2025 doctoral admission process was carried out in accordance with regulations, with valid and transparent records; at the same time, it committed to complying with the principles of scientific integrity, continuing to review, verify and handle any violations detected.
