Many parents at "Advanced, Internationally Integrated Schools" in Ho Chi Minh City are confused because recently the tuition fees for the program have changed compared to before.
Regarding tuition fees, the above schools in Ho Chi Minh City have begun to adjust the implementation of tuition fees for public educational institutions according to Resolution No. 12/2024/NQ-HDND dated July 16, 2024 of the City People's Council.
These schools will also collect service fees to support educational activities according to Resolution No. 13/2024/NQ-HDND and fees for organizing other educational activities, according to the instructions in Official Dispatch No. 5307/SGDĐT-KHTC dated August 26, 2024 of the Department of Education and Training of the City.
Thus, schools implementing the program "Advanced, Internationally Integrated Schools" have adjusted their tuition fees and other fees to the prescribed levels of a public school that does not implement this program. The new total fees are much lower than the previous fees.
Previously, these schools were allowed to collect at the rate of 1,725,000 VND/student/month, with accompanying standard conditions on student numbers, support levels for teachers...
The principal of a high school implementing this program said that the adjustment of school revenues from the second semester will be much lower than the revenue levels prescribed for schools implementing the previous program. Therefore, the expenses for teachers under the program will no longer exist. On the other hand, educational activities carried out in the school are also difficult when the revenue levels are reduced.
"We are worried that the implementation of educational activities in the school will be affected, because the previous fee was for 35 students/class, now the fee has been adjusted down, it is difficult to implement and the school is having to bear the burden," said the school leader.
Faced with this reality, many parents whose children are studying at high schools implementing the "Advanced, Internationally Integrated School" program are quite worried. "I am worried about what disruptions will be made to my child's education," one parent told Tuoi Tre .
Previously, on December 30, 2024, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City annulled Decision No. 07/2022/QD-UBND dated March 18, 2022 of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City regulating the criteria for recognizing schools implementing the high-quality program "Advanced, Internationally Integrated School" in Ho Chi Minh City. The reason is that Decision No. 07 has no legal basis and is not in accordance with the regulatory authority.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is waiting for the completion of legal frameworks related to schools implementing this program.
69 schools are implementing the program "Advanced schools, international integration"
According to data from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, by the 2024-2025 school year, in Thu Duc City and 21 districts in Ho Chi Minh City, there will be 69 schools (preschool, primary, secondary and high schools) that have been approved to implement the high-quality model "Advanced school, international integration".
In the 2006-2007 school year, Le Quy Don High School, District 3 was chosen to pilot the advanced school model. Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City has officially implemented the program "Advanced School, International Integration" for more than 10 years.
