In order to effectively promote population policy contents closer to the people, Ba Che district is one of the localities that effectively implement population communication work.
Last April, Ba Che district organized a series of community communication conferences on population and development work in 2025 at 34 village cultural houses in 6 communes in the area. The communication sessions were all held in the evening, starting at 7:30 p.m., creating favorable conditions for people to participate after work. Thanks to this flexible approach, a large number of people came to participate, especially those of childbearing age, families with children of adolescence and youth.
Ms. Ly Siu Kiu (Khe Sau village, Nam Son commune, Ba Che district) shared: “Since participating in population communication sessions, I have been advised and reminded by doctors and nurses to regularly go to the Commune Health Station for check-ups and monitoring to protect my health and that of my family. Not only that, but I have also learned more about reproductive health and pre-marital health. I have reminded my children that they need to have a health check-up before marriage to ensure a happy marriage and healthy children.”
Doctor Hoang Van Ba, Head of Nam Son Health Station, said: Population communication and health education are the bridge to help people in the area know how to protect their own health and that of their families. Therefore, during the community communication sessions, people are not only informed about health care but also have their questions about disease prevention for themselves and their families answered promptly. Moreover, medical staff at the station have visited each household to check pregnancy, provide nutritional advice and guide pregnant women to monitor their health periodically to minimize risks and avoid unfortunate obstetric complications that may occur.
In recent times, the Provincial Department of Population has proactively developed plans, coordinated with units with strengths in information and propaganda to diversify communication forms, publish information on population content to attract attention and create public interest; promoted communication activities towards the goal of achieving small, healthy families. This has changed the awareness of couples about the meaning and importance of reproductive health care and family planning; coordinated with departments, branches and organizations to propagate and integrate the Party and State's policies and guidelines on population and development work.
Communication work focuses on specific contents such as: Mobilizing young people to conduct pre-marital health consultation and examination; pregnant women to conduct screening, diagnosis, and treatment of some diseases and disabilities before birth; newborns to conduct screening, diagnosis, and treatment of some congenital diseases; raising awareness of the harms and consequences, strictly implementing legal regulations on prohibiting early marriage, incestuous marriage, etc.
Through effective communication activities, in 2024, 98.9% of pregnant women were screened prenatally and 79.9% of newborns were screened for at least 4 diseases; the rate of elderly people receiving regular health check-ups reached 98.2%. In the first 3 months of 2025, the number of new people applying contraceptive methods was 108,865/104,753 people, reaching 103.9% of the plan.
In the coming time, the Provincial Population Office will continue to innovate the content of population communication; in which, focusing on communication with focus, key points, paying attention to diversifying forms of direct and indirect communication through communication products to suit each target group and propaganda purpose... to achieve comprehensive goals on population size, structure, quality and promote the advantages of the golden population structure, adapt to population aging, contributing to the goal of sustainable population development.
