Within the framework of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations (1950-2025) and respond to the Vietnam-China Cultural Exchange Year 2025, a meaningful milestone is the announcement ceremony of the cultural tourism route "Vietnam-China Red Journey of Friendship Following in the Footsteps of President Ho Chi Minh in Guangxi".

Not just a tourism product, this journey opens up opportunities to connect people, spread historical values and remind people of the deep affection between the two nations during the years of sharing the ideals of independence and freedom.

The tour includes six routes, connecting 13 locations associated with President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Guangxi, China, where he laid the foundation for national liberation.

Destinations such as the Vietnam School Memorial House in Nanning, Duc Tai School, Ho Chi Minh Cave in Phuc Dong Son, Viet Minh Office in Tinh Tay... are all living historical evidence, helping to recreate the historical context associated with the spirit of proletarian internationalism and the friendly resistance relationship between Vietnam and China.

The special feature of the journey is that it not only introduces revolutionary relics but also creates a space for people to exchange, where young people can learn about history through real-life experiences. The “Red Journey” targets many audiences: from students, cadres, party members to elderly tourists, demonstrating a flexible approach, linking culture-history and sustainable tourism development.

The construction of the tourist route is a clear manifestation of the strategic foreign vision, considering history not only as a memory but also as a common asset of two nations, which needs to be shared, passed on, and preserved as the glue that binds nations together.

Along with the historical journey is a cultural space imbued with Asian culture - the program "World Harmonious Tea - Nha Tap 2025" jointly implemented by China and Vietnam.

Using the image of a teacup as a symbol, the program evokes a gentle yet profound message about harmony, dialogue and connection between two great Asian cultures. Tea culture plays an important role in the spiritual life of both nations, is a ritual of hospitality and an expression of a refined and harmonious philosophy of life.

In the 75 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the Vietnam-China friendship has always been a solid foundation, playing an important role in the development of each country.

Launched by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2023, the “World Harmonious Tea-Elegance Collection” program has spread to 47 countries, becoming one of China’s representative cultural initiatives. When stopping in Vietnam, a country with a long-standing tradition of tea drinking, the program has a deeper meaning of connection.

The spaces recreating the art of tea ceremony, introducing Hoang Chau jasmine tea and Guangxi cultural tourism products have created a bridge connecting the people of the two countries.

In his speech at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Ha Vi emphasized: tea harmonizes the world, bringing people closer together. That statement not only encapsulates the spirit of the program but also suggests the sustainable value of culture, which is the spread to bring people closer together in empathy and sharing.

Besides concrete symbols such as historical journeys or cups of tea, culture is increasingly appearing more diversely in people-to-people diplomacy. Cultural festivals, film weeks, art exhibitions, calligraphy exchanges, etc. are increasingly held regularly between localities of the two countries.

In fact, over the years, on the basis of a cup of tea, a historical journey, cultural-artistic-tourism exchanges between Vietnam and China have become more and more lively, rich and substantial. The presence of culture in people-to-people diplomacy is no longer limited to ceremonial activities and conferences but has become a part of daily life. Cultural diplomacy today is gradually becoming a soft material for cooperation, expanding space for economics, trade, tourism, science and technology and education.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Lam Lam, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that in the first four months of 2025, Guangxi welcomed nearly 42,000 Vietnamese visitors, an increase of more than 88%. Vietnam is Guangxi's second largest international tourist market.

These telling figures show the clear effectiveness of bilateral cultural and tourism cooperation, in which initiatives such as the “red journey” or “world harmony tea” play an important role in promoting understanding and developing two-way culture and tourism.

From another perspective, culture is increasingly valued by Vietnam as an important pillar of modern diplomacy. Cultural-historical exchange programs such as “World Harmonious Tea-Elegance 2025” or “Red Journey” are concrete manifestations of that direction, where culture is a way to connect and promote peace, understanding and sustainable development cooperation. In the context of the world facing many changes, maintaining dialogue channels through culture-tourism-people exchange becomes more necessary than ever.

From a simple cup of tea in the heart of Hanoi to the landmarks marking Uncle Ho's footsteps in Guangxi, from historical memories to contemporary feelings, from cultural symbols to humanistic tourism products... the two peoples of Vietnam and China continue to connect through the sharing of cultural values with the desire for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
