On May 20, the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Medicine organized a consultation and communication session on "Insomnia and sleep apnea syndrome".

Professor, Doctor of Science , Doctor Duong Quy Sy, President of the Vietnam Sleep Medicine Association, directly consulted patients being treated at the hospital and their families.

At the consultation session, Professor, Doctor of Science, Doctor Duong Quy Sy shared about: causes, symptoms, diagnosis and effective treatment methods for insomnia and sleep apnea syndrome; healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition for patients suffering from nervous breakdown or chronic diseases related to sleep disorders.

Sleep apnea can occur at any age but is most common in middle age, more common in men than women. People at high risk of sleep apnea include: obesity (3 times higher risk than normal people); abnormalities in the structure of the upper respiratory tract (enlarged tonsils, adenoids, small jaw, receding jaw, too big tongue, nasal congestion...); alcoholism, use of sedatives, narcotics; family members with sleep apnea; diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, heart failure, cerebrovascular disease...
