Kim Hyung-tae, CEO and director of Shift Up, has officially joined the list of the 50 richest people in Korea.
According to the latest report from Forbes , Mr. Kim Hyung-tae's net worth is currently at 725 million USD , thanks in large part to the resounding success of the two games Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke .
Stellar Blade has become a global phenomenon since its release. The unexpected success of this game has brought the name of Mr. Kim Hyung-tae, who started his career as a game artist, to the list of the richest individuals in the "land of kimchi".
Shift Up’s success also comes from Goddess of Victory: Nikke , an anime-themed action-RPG that, available on mobile and PC, hit a record $1 billion in revenue in March, demonstrating the company’s financial strength.

Data shows that Goddess of Victory: Nikke earned $70 million in revenue in its first month of release, and that number quickly skyrocketed to $400 million less than a year later. There is currently no official word on whether the game will be released on consoles anytime soon.
In addition, the game has also officially launched in China. With more than 5 million players pre-registered, this market promises to continue to bring huge revenue for Shift Up.
Along with Goddess of Victory: Nikke , Stellar Blade was also a big hit, contributing significantly to Shift Up's revenue. Thanks to this game, Shift Up's revenue increased by a third, reaching 224 billion won (equivalent to 152 million USD ).
In January, Shift Up surprised everyone by giving out generous bonuses to its entire staff, including a PlayStation 5 Pro and around $3,400 in cash, to celebrate the success of Stellar Blade . The move was a show of appreciation from management for the team's contributions to the studio's overall success.
With Stellar Blade just launching on PC on June 12, and Shift Up even expecting the PC version to outperform the PS5 version, the company's revenue is expected to continue to increase strongly in the near future.
Kim Hyung-tae, CEO of Shift Up, stands out in the Korean gaming industry with his journey as a game artist.
In 2005, he took on the role of art director at NCSoft, one of the largest game companies in Korea, famous for the game Blade & Soul . Here, Mr. Hyung-tae left his mark with his distinctive sexy character design style, contributing to the appeal of the products he participated in.
After many years of accumulating experience and proving his talent, Mr. Hyung-tae decided to pursue a bigger dream: establishing his own game studio called Shift Up in 2013.
