Watch the U21 Vietnam girls compete in the world tournament
Unlike the national team, the youth teams of Vietnamese women's volleyball rarely have the opportunity to compete internationally. Almost every year, they only play at the VTV Cup or the Asian Youth Championship when this tournament is held. Otherwise, the young athletes rarely have the opportunity to compete with foreign teams.
But this year, the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team has been given a great opportunity to do so. On August 7, they will compete in the 2025 U21 Women's Volleyball World Championship. To achieve this achievement, they have excellently entered the top 5 of the 2024 Asian Championship.
According to the draw results, the U21 Vietnam team is in Group A with host Indonesia, Argentina, Serbia, Puerto Rico and Canada. Except for Indonesia, the remaining opponents of the young Vietnamese girls are all of higher professional level.
Therefore, achievement is not what they aim for. Instead, according to coach Nguyen Trong Linh, the whole team aims to play to the best of their ability because this is a rare opportunity to compete and gain experience.
Coming to the world tournament for the first time in history, 12 names were selected including: Lai Khanh Huyen, Ngo Thi Bich Hue, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Dang Thi Hong, Le Nhu Anh, Nguyen Lan Vy, Nguyen Van Ha, Pham Quynh Huong, Pham Thuy Linh, Le Thuy Linh, Bui Thi Anh Thao, Ha Kieu Vy.
This is a team that has had a lot of time to practice and compete together. The U21 Vietnam women's volleyball team may not aim for achievements, but they can aim for a generation capable of inheriting the current seniors.

Meanwhile, from August 8, the national women's volleyball team will return to the SEA V.League with the second round taking place in Ninh Binh .
In the first round that just ended, Thanh Thuy and her teammates almost made a surprise against Thailand. In the decisive match, they were the team that took the lead twice. But then Thailand's class and experience helped them turn the tables after 5 tense sets.
Surely the fans and the girls of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team must feel extremely regretful. That was only the first time in history that they had won 2 sets against Thailand when playing on this opponent's home field.
With the second round being held in Ninh Binh, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team still has a chance to take revenge and overthrow the "big sister" of Southeast Asian women's volleyball.
