The 2026 AFC Futsal Championship will be held from January 27 to February 7, 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia. 16 teams will be divided into four groups, playing a round-robin tournament, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards, matches will be played in a knockout format to determine the continental champion.
According to the men's futsal rankings announced by FIFA on August 29, the Vietnamese team (ranked 26th in the world ) is in group 2 with Uzbekistan (19), Afghanistan (33) and Iraq (41) - a group that is considered highly competitive and promises to bring exciting matches right from the group stage.
The Vietnamese futsal team made a big splash when they reached the semi-finals of the 2016 Asian Futsal Championship, thereby winning a ticket to the FIFA Futsal World Cup for the first time in history and the second time in 2021. With their current position and progress in recent times, coach Diego Giustozzi and his students continue to receive high expectations to continue writing miracles in the continental arena in 2026.
