CELEBRATION OF THE 78TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SUCCESSFUL AUGUST REVOLUTION AND NATIONAL DAY (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023)

78 years have passed, but the historic moment at Ba Dinh Square ( Hanoi ) on the afternoon of September 2, 1945, when Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, is forever engraved in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.

HUMAN RIGHTS ARE LINKED TO NATIONAL RIGHTS

Following the course of history, after the victory of the August Revolution, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was born on September 2, 1945, opening a new era. Vietnam, from a colonial and feudal country, became a free and independent country. From then on, the Vietnamese people ended their slavery, turned their dreams into reality, and the arduous and persistent struggle of the entire Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh was duly rewarded. The two words "Vietnam" returned to the world map that colonialism and fascism had erased for nearly a century.

President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945.
President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945.

At the sacred moment of history, as a representative of the entire Vietnamese people, President Ho Chi Minh quoted the American "Declaration of Independence" (1776) and the "Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen" of the French Revolution (1791). He affirmed the views on human rights that must be recognized: "All men are born equal.

The Creator has endowed them with certain inalienable rights; among these are the right to life, the right to liberty, and the right to the pursuit of happiness…”. That is not only the basic idea of human rights, Ho Chi Minh has expanded and elevated it into a great idea of national rights, in which independence and freedom are the core ideas.

Thus, Ho Chi Minh linked two basic legal categories, national rights and human rights, in a dialectical and close relationship. An independent nation is a prerequisite to ensure that people can live in a free country and be citizens of an independent country.

That is also the immortal ideology that must be established that Ho Chi Minh set forth for all countries in the world, regardless of size, strength or difference in political regime, as soon as the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was born and joined the ranks of the pioneering nations fighting for the cause of national liberation, social liberation, and human liberation.

A notable point in the Declaration of Independence clearly shows the establishment of the state institution of a country that has just gained independence. According to Ho Chi Minh, “Our people have broken the colonial chains of nearly 100 years to build an independent Vietnam. Our people have also broken the monarchy of several decades to establish a democratic republic” practicing the principle of “people’s sovereignty” with the meaning that the people are the subject of the new Vietnam, of the democratic republic, which was clearly affirmed by Ho Chi Minh.

This means that the establishment of the people's right to mastery is not limited to any class or stratum, but to all patriotic Vietnamese people, regardless of gender, status, religion, or class. This is a regime established from the results of the people's struggle, built according to the wishes of all classes of people, all aiming towards the noble goal of "Independence - Freedom - Happiness" for the people, creating the premise for the birth of a rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, and for the people.

NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE ASSOCIATED WITH SOCIALISM

The ideology of national independence associated with socialism according to Ho Chi Minh's thought did not stop at the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, but his ideology became the mainstream leading the Vietnamese revolution to continuously gain historical victories.

In the Declaration of Independence, Ho Chi Minh declared that: “The entire Vietnamese people are determined to devote all their spirit and strength, their lives and property to maintain that freedom and independence”, demonstrating the great will and determination of the entire nation in protecting sacred, inviolable values and upholding the spirit of sacrifice for the Fatherland. According to him, after gaining national independence, the nation must move forward to build socialism, in order to liberate people, liberate society, eliminate poverty and backwardness, and strive for a prosperous, free and happy life for all people and all nations.

National independence must be closely linked to socialism, President Ho Chi Minh's consistent ideology is reflected through historical facts, proving his immortal declaration exactly 3 weeks after Independence Day, September 2, 1945. Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese people, the two regions of the South and the North, have gone through hardships and resilience, the South became the Citadel of the Fatherland, the North was the solid rear of the Southern revolution, together going through 2 resistance wars against French colonialism (1945 - 1954) and American imperialism (1954 - 1975) until April 30, 1975.

The strength of solidarity and resilience of the entire nation was once again strongly promoted in defending the Fatherland and fulfilling international obligations; the spirit of determination and unanimity of the Party, the State and the people took advantage of opportunities, rose up in the cause of national renewal, and in the period of integration and development, achieved great achievements of historical significance.

Each historical period has different tasks but the same common goal is "Independence - Freedom - Happiness". Looking back at the flow of the history of the Vietnamese revolution and the reality of the path to socialism in our country during the transition period, there is sufficient evidence to affirm that the ideology of national independence associated with socialism is the fundamental and consistent line of the Vietnamese revolution and is also the key point in the ideological legacy of President Ho Chi Minh.

After 37 years of renovation, the consistent ideology of national independence associated with socialism still holds its value, becoming the driving force and source of strength for the Vietnamese revolution in line with the Party's will and the people's will. The country has achieved great achievements of historical significance, developing strongly and comprehensively. People's lives have been significantly improved both materially and spiritually.

The country's position and potential have undergone many positive changes, creating favorable conditions for expanding international relations and consolidating independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. This has further strengthened the people's trust and contributed to enhancing the Party's leadership and fighting strength.

Together with the whole country, the Party Committee, government and people of Tien Giang join hands to overcome all difficulties and challenges, striving to achieve the highest goals set out in the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025. In particular, continuing to make efforts to implement effective solutions to achieve the three major goals for Tien Giang to become a developed province in the Southern Key Economic Zone; self-balancing the budget and completing the task of building new rural areas; successfully implementing the set targets.
