| First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy and Deputy Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Nong Thi Ha presented the award for outstanding ethnic minority youth to Ly Duc Dan. |
Born in 1993 (Na Toong village, Thanh Thuy) in the ancient Shan Tuyet tea area, Mr. Ly Duc Dan, a Tay ethnic, grew up with a family with a traditional profession of making Shan Tuyet tea, but with fragmented production. In 2017, he mobilized 13 households to establish a cooperative, developed more than 150 hectares of organic tea, guided farmers to replace chemical fertilizers with bio-fertilizers, harvested and processed properly, invested in roasting, rolling, and vacuum packaging machines.
Over time, the product achieved organic tea in 2019, the brand "468 Chot Tea" OCOP 3 stars in 2020 associated with High Point 468, Nam Ngat village, Thanh Thuy commune. The product is favored by the market, the price of tea ranges from 350-400 thousand VND/kg for the one-shrimp-two-leaf type; the high-end one-shrimp-one-leaf type reaches about 2 million VND/kg. The average income of cooperative members reaches over 150 million VND/year; at the same time, creating jobs for nearly 20 local workers.
In addition to being a dynamic director, Mr. Dan is also an exemplary young party member, having been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee for studying and following Uncle Ho's ideology, morality and style. The title just awarded recognizes his persistent efforts to promote collective economy and inspire entrepreneurship for young people in the ethnic minority area of Thanh Thuy commune.
