On October 10, 1427, on the historic land of Chi Lang, our army and people achieved a resounding victory in the struggle against the expansionism of the Northern feudalism; with a formidable battle and a clever fighting style, the tenacious fighting spirit turned the entire attack plan of the Ming Dynasty upside down. The Battle of Chi Lang was the opening battle of decisive significance, forcing the enemy from one surprise to another, from one defeat to another, and finally being completely defeated and completely destroyed. The victory of Chi Lang is a brilliant symbol of the strength of the patriotic people's war against foreign invaders. The victory of Chi Lang, together with the victories of Bach Dang, Nhu Nguyet, Rach Gam, Xoai Mut, Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da, Dien Bien Phu, and the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, are heroic songs expressing the crystallization of patriotism, the will for independence, the strength of national unity, the spirit of determination to fight and defeat foreign invaders, and the excellent military art of our nation.
The victory at Chi Lang completely annihilated Lieu Thang's army, together with the victory at Le Hoa, which defeated Moc Thanh's army, played the role of a strategic decisive battle that had a decisive meaning in ending the war of national salvation of our people. The glorious victory of the campaign to destroy reinforcements caused a strong shock, collapsing the will to invade of the Ming Dynasty, completely disintegrating the ambition and resistance of the Ming army in our country. On the path of victory, our army and people had enough power and strength to attack and destroy about 100,000 enemy troops besieged in the citadels commanded by Vuong Thong. But representing the noble humanity and ardent desire for peace of our people, Le Loi and Nguyen Trai advocated ending the war to both ensure and maintain national independence and reduce the loss of blood and bones of the people.
The Chi Lang victory was a decisive victory on the battlefield to end a war of national liberation, regain the entire country, maintain independence and sovereignty , preserve its own culture, and completely defeat the enemy's plot of assimilation and destruction. Its historical significance transcended the space and time limits of Dai Viet at that time. The Chi Lang victory was recorded in history as an immortal epic, demonstrating the determination and strength of our people to protect national independence, as a worthy counterattack against the Northern invaders.
The 595th anniversary of the historic Chi Lang victory (October 10, 1427 - October 10, 2022) is an opportunity for today's and future generations to show respect and remember the merits of Le Loi, Nguyen Trai, and the talented people, righteous men and people of Chi Lang who fought bravely and sacrificed on this heroic historical land.
