Attending at the Lang Son province (Vietnam) bridge point were leaders of the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center; representatives of the Provincial People's Committee Office and a number of related departments and branches.
At the ceremony, delegates listened to a short presentation on UNESCO's role and interest in UNESCO Global Geoparks, capacity building events and the role of the new UNESCO Global Geoparks; watched a video introducing 16 UNESCO Global Geoparks.
In the program, the leader of Lang Son Geopark Management Department briefly introduced Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark. Accordingly, Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark was officially established in 2021, spanning 8 districts and cities with a total area of nearly 5,000km². Currently, Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark has completed 4 tourist routes with 38 destinations with the theme "Flow of life in the sacred land", each route has its own theme.
UNESCO's official recognition of Lang Son Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark is of great significance. This is a milestone that opens up many new opportunities for sustainable tourism development in Lang Son. At the same time, the province can connect deeply with the global Geopark network, cooperate and exchange experiences in managing, preserving and promoting the values of humanity's natural heritage for sustainable development.
Here, delegates witnessed UNESCO representatives officially awarding certificates to 16 new UNESCO global geoparks, including Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark.
