Attending the conference were comrade Duong Xuan Huyen, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors of the province.
The Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin was established in 2008 and officially became a member of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin since October 17, 2012. From February 2025, the association merged into the Provincial Red Cross Association according to Decision No. 316/QD-UBND dated February 8, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on allowing the merger of the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, the Provincial Association of the Blind, and the Provincial Association for the Support of the Disabled and Protection of Children's Rights into the Provincial Red Cross Association.
The province currently has 653 Agent Orange victims. Of these, 389 are direct victims and 264 are indirect victims whose children are enjoying the regime and policies of the Party and State.
Implementing Directive 43-CT/TW, in the past 10 years, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has supported the construction and repair of 38 houses worth over 2.7 billion VND; supported 260 Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin for convalescence and treatment worth nearly 300 million VND; visited and presented over 8,500 gifts worth 4.7 billion VND to Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin; supported production capital (without interest) for 17 cases worth nearly 200 million VND... The total value of support activities of the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in the past 10 years reached over 8.4 billion VND; Red Cross Associations at all levels have assisted over 4,700 Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin worth nearly 3.5 billion VND.
Also within the framework of the program, the Provincial Red Cross Society summarized the Humanitarian Month in 2025. Accordingly, the Humanitarian Month was implemented by Red Cross societies at all levels across the province from March 1, 2025 to May 31, 2025. During this time, the societies at all levels actively mobilized resources from organizations, individuals and benefactors inside and outside the province to organize activities such as: implementing a provincial-level Humanitarian Market with a value of over 200 million VND; mobilizing the construction of charity houses with a value of over 210 million VND... The total value of Humanitarian Month activities of societies at all levels across the province reached nearly 6 billion VND with nearly 6,000 beneficiaries.
For the "Million Steps of Kindness" Campaign in 2025, the whole province has 24 participating teams (an increase of 11 teams compared to 2024) with a total of more than 5,000 members (an increase of more than 2,000 members compared to 2024) participating in running and walking, reaching over 345,200km, ranking 4th nationwide (up 1 rank compared to 2024). With the achieved kilometers, Lang Son contributed nearly 350 million VND to the Vietnam Red Cross Humanitarian Fund, was honored and received a certificate of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
Speaking at the conference, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and commended the positivity of all levels of the Red Cross Society, the efforts of the victims of Agent Orange and the contributions of agencies, units, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province that have contributed to the effective implementation of Directive 43-CT/TW and the "Humanitarian Month" program in the past time.
He suggested that in the coming time, all levels, sectors, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and organizations need to join hands to better implement the regimes and policies for victims of Agent Orange and continue to promote the implementation of Directive 43-CT/TW, respond more strongly to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society on the "Humanitarian Month" program held annually. At the same time, all levels of the Red Cross Society need to continue to build and strengthen the organization after merging 3 associations according to the principle of "No interruption of work, no lack of support for the subjects", continue to take better care of victims of Agent Orange, focus on innovating the content and methods of operation in a practical and effective direction... In particular, he called on all levels, sectors, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, socio -political organizations and all classes of people to continue to spread humanitarian actions, care and help victims of Agent Orange to help them overcome difficulties, ease the pain of Agent Orange, contribute to building a better society...
On this occasion, the Provincial Red Cross Association presented 25 gifts (each gift worth 500,000 VND including necessities and 200,000 VND in cash) to Agent Orange victims in the province. At the same time, 5 collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements in participating in the Campaign "Millions of Compassionate Footsteps - Continuing the Golden History" of Lang Son province in 2025 were honored; 20 commemorative medals were awarded to leaders of districts and cities in recognition of their golden hearts and certificates of merit to leaders of the Red Cross Associations of districts and cities for their outstanding achievements in the association's work and the Red Cross movement in the period 2020 - 2025.
