Nguyen Xuan Son and Pham Tuan Hai scored to help Vietnam defeat Laos 2-0 away in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on the evening of November 19. Despite the important victory, the playing style of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team has not brought a sense of security.

On social media, there were mixed opinions about this match. One account commented: "We have never played against Laos and struggled so much." Another fan commented: "We couldn't score any goals against Laos in the first half, we need to review the problem in the attack."

Another fan commented: “Malaysia really doesn't need naturalized players to still be able to cause us trouble."

On the other hand, many fans were optimistic when focusing on Xuan Son’s performance. The striker of Nam Dinh Club quickly regained his scoring touch for the national team after a period of being sidelined.

One fan commented: "Vietnam did not play well and Xuan Son was the difference that helped us win." Another fan said: "Xuan Son spoke up at the right time. He is the most important player of the team."

Xuan Son continues to maintain his impressive scoring form since joining the national team. This is his 8th goal after only 6 appearances for the “Golden Star Warriors”, along with 2 assists.

On March 31, 2026, the Vietnamese team will face their direct opponent Malaysia at home in the final match of Group F.
