Vietnam and Thailand teams compete for billion-dollar bonuses before the 2024 AFF Cup final

The Thai team could be rewarded with at least 6 million baht (about 4.4 billion VND) if they win the 2024 AFF Cup. The announcement was made by the President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang) just hours before the second leg final match at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok) tonight, January 5.

Of which, 4 million baht is the bonus from Madam Pang and FAT's partner companies. In addition, the Thai team will receive 1 million baht (more than 700 million VND) for each goal in the second leg of the final.

Previously, in the first leg of the final on January 2, coach Masatada Ishii and his team lost to Vietnam 1-2. To lift the trophy at home, the Thai team needs to win by at least 2 goals. Thus, the total amount of money that the Thai team can receive if they reverse the situation against Vietnam is not less than 6 million baht.

Before the final match at the AFF Cup 2024, Madam Pang had spent a total of 5 million baht (equivalent to nearly 3.7 billion VND) in bonuses for the Thai team (3 million baht after the group stage and 2 million baht after the semi-finals).

Not inferior to its opponent, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) also announced bonuses to encourage the home team before the final match. As of 1pm on January 5, VFF's partners had promised a total bonus of VND5 billion if coach Kim Sang-sik and his team won the championship.

Previously, the Vietnamese team also received billions of dong from VFF and sponsors for passing the group stage and then the semi-finals.

The second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final will take place at 8:00 p.m. today, January 5, at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok). The Vietnamese team is aiming to win the Southeast Asian championship for the third time in the tournament's history. If successful, this will be the first time the Vietnamese team has lifted the trophy on away ground.
