Foreign exchange rates on April 21: USD and CNY increase strongly at banks

In the trading session on April 21, the market recorded the exchange rate of Vietnamese Dong (VND) against the US Dollar (USD) and Chinese Yuan (CNY) increasing simultaneously at banks.

In recent consecutive sessions, the exchange rate has tended to increase sharply after the US announced to impose a 245% tax on Chinese goods.

Recorded on April 16, the USD exchange rate remained at 26,000 VND/USD, showing the short-term stability of the greenback.

A day earlier, the USD also returned to 26,000 VND/USD, marking a recovery compared to the previous slight decline.

On April 14, the USD and CNY also increased in price at the same time, starting a series of consecutive increases until now.

According to the announcement of the State Bank, the central exchange rate this morning was adjusted up by 9 VND compared to April 18, to 24,907 VND/USD. Based on the amplitude of ±5% compared to the central exchange rate, the transaction ceiling was set at 26,152 VND/USD, while the floor was 23,662 VND/USD. At the same time, the reference exchange rate at the State Bank's Transaction Office remained at 23,704 VND/USD for buying and 26,092 VND/USD for selling.

At the commercial banking system, at 8:25 this morning, Vietcombank listed the USD buying and selling prices at 25,770 - 26,130 VND/USD, an increase of 70 VND in both directions compared to April 18. Meanwhile, BIDV announced the USD exchange rate at 25,760 - 26,120 VND/USD, recording an increase of 60 VND compared to the weekend trading session.

Regarding the Chinese Yuan, Vietcombank this morning adjusted the buying rate up by 15 VND and the selling rate up by 16 VND, bringing the price to 3,499 - 3,611 VND/NDT. At the same time, BIDV also raised the exchange rate of the Chinese Yuan to 3,514 - 3,610 VND/NDT, an increase of 10 VND for the buying rate and 11 VND for the selling rate compared to April 18.
