Up to 14.5% of high school students surveyed in Hai Duong province have psychological disorders (including behaviors such as violating school rules and school violence). This is the research result of the Project Management Board of Hai Duong Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital presented at the provincial scientific project acceptance workshop on May 21 in Hai Duong city.

Through the project "Research on factors affecting mental health in high school students in Hai Duong province and proposing prevention and intervention models", the Board of Directors conducted a survey of 2,000 samples, including 1,100 students, 400 teachers and 500 parents in Hai Duong province.

The survey results showed that 64.2% of students had normal mental health; 21.4% of students had borderline mental health and 14.5% of students had mental disorders. This rate is higher than some studies abroad and in Vietnam.

There was a strong association between general mental health and four difficulties: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, emotional problems, and behavioral difficulties. Female students tended to have more mental health problems than male students. The results also showed that students had higher levels of mental health problems than their parents reported.

Research also shows that there is a strong link between aspects of mental health and social support. Students with good mental health tend to receive more support from family, friends and significant others. Meanwhile, students with emotional problems tend to receive less support. This shows the importance of social support in improving students' mental health.

From the above research results, the Project Management Board recommends that students need to learn the signs of stress, depression and how to cope appropriately. They need to maintain a balanced diet, get enough sleep, exercise and participate in extracurricular activities to reduce stress. When facing psychological problems, they need to seek support from teachers, friends, parents...

The school enhances mental healtheducation through integrating psychology and life skills into the curriculum; organizing workshops on stress management and problem-solving skills.

Parents also need to pay attention to their children's feelings, listen and not put too much pressure on their children to study. Support children in building a healthy lifestyle, encourage them to participate in sports and art activities instead of just focusing on studying in class...

Medical facilities provide psychological examination and counseling services, helping to detect early signs of stress, anxiety, depression or psychological disorders in students for timely intervention. Coordinate with schools to organize mental health education programs, instruct students in stress management skills, control emotions and build healthy living habits...
