For decades of farming according to habit, Mr. Le Van Ton (residing in Hai Hung hamlet, Nhon Hoa commune, Tan Thanh district, Long An province) has had to face difficulties.

According to Mr. Ton, the process of implementing and organizing the implementation of the UDCNC rice growing model has gradually changed his thinking and awareness. In particular, the important thing is the use of certified seeds, the application of mechanization in the stages of land preparation, sowing, fertilizing, spraying, and harvesting.
At the same time, the number of times of fertilizing and spraying is reduced, limiting the use of pesticides. Thereby, contributing to reducing soil and water pollution and protecting consumer health.
"This is a new way of doing things, applying high technology and synchronization in the fields, very different from the old, outdated, and ineffective rice cultivation practices of farmers for a long time," Mr. Ton commented.
Accordingly, by growing rice this way, Mr. Ton harvests an average of 6 tons/ha, after deducting costs, the profit is about 25 million/ha.
In addition to growing rice, Mr. Ton combines growing fruit trees such as durian, jackfruit and raising poultry such as ducks and chickens.
"Over the years, I have always been lucky when rice crops are good and prices are good, durian is in season and sold at high prices, and jackfruit is purchased by traders at the spot," Mr. Ton confided.

The initial success created excitement for the family. Mr. Ton continued to invest capital to expand the area of fruit trees in the difficult-to-develop rice land, and at the same time opened a livestock farm to generate more profit.
To date, Mr. Ton has 24 hectares of high-tech rice production, planted over 300 durian and Thai jackfruit trees, creating jobs for 10 local idle workers with an average income of 8 million VND/person/month. The integrated economic model has brought Mr. Ton's family an income of more than 1.2 billion VND/year.
