U22 Vietnam has new overseas Vietnamese striker

During FIFA Days in June 2024, the U22 Vietnam team will continue to train in parallel with the Vietnam national team, expected to gather from May 26.

Coach Dinh Hong Vinh and his team are still in the process of selecting players for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship (taking place from July 15 to 31 in Indonesia), the 2025 Asian U23 qualifiers (September in Phu Tho ), and focusing on the 33rd SEA Games (December in Thailand).

In the list of 26 U22 Vietnam players gathering this time, the notable factor is the brand new overseas Vietnamese player Bui Alex, who is playing for Bohemians Praha 1905 in the Czech Third Division.

Bui Alex was born in 2005 in Prague, Czech Republic, is 1.78m tall, and can play many positions in the attack.

Bui Alex has Vietnamese parents, also has a Vietnamese passport and has been monitored by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for over 2 years.

According to information from VFF, Bui Alex is assessed to have good technique, speed, ball control and passing ability, and effective finishing with both feet.

Bui Alex has been a key striker for many years in Czech youth teams, and in 2025 scored 2 goals in the Czech Third Division.

"The addition of new players like Bui Alex will help increase the depth of the team, while affirming the proactive integration strategy and finding quality overseas Vietnamese players for Vietnamese football," the VFF homepage wrote.

The remaining players on the list of U22 Vietnam this time still include mostly bright young talents, who have experience playing in teams from U17 - U23.

In particular, the coaching staff also focuses on players who have played regularly in the V-League, such as: defenders Ho Van Cuong, Pham Ly Duc, Nguyen Nhat Minh, midfielders Dinh Xuan Tien, Nguyen Quang Vinh, Nguyen Phi Hoang, Le Van Thuan, Nguyen Thai Son, Viktor Le, Le Dinh Long Vu, Nguyen Quoc Viet.

According to the plan, U22 Vietnam will practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (VYF). The coaching staff aims to create cohesion among the players, perfect the squad and playing style.
