U23 Vietnam needs to defend the Southeast Asian championship
After a series of missions with the Vietnam team, Coach Kim Sang Sik also prioritized the Vietnam U23 team, because in 2025 they have to participate in many important tournaments including the Southeast Asian U23 tournament, Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.
And the first tournament that coach Kim Sang Sik needs to conquer is the Southeast Asian U23 Championship taking place in Indonesia (from July 15-29). The goal for the Korean strategist is nothing other than successfully defending the championship title for U23 Vietnam.

With the current squad, U23 Vietnam is still highly regarded as possessing players with experience playing in the V-League such as Thai Son, Van Khang, Viktor Le...
However, coach Kim Sang Sik also faces great pressure, because opponents such as Thailand, Malaysia and especially host Indonesia have all prepared carefully, even invested much more heavily in this generation of players.
Therefore, defending the championship is not easy, forcing U23 Vietnam to have thorough preparation both professionally and mentally.
And more
For Mr. Kim Sang Sik, winning the U23 Southeast Asian championship is not the only goal, but more importantly, it is building a successor force for the Vietnamese team in the near future.
After losing to Malaysia in the Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnamese team has clearly shown gaps in its squad as it is still too dependent on an old squad, so the task of adding new players to create new momentum is urgent.

The people currently in U23 Vietnam are the best place for him to do this, even need to discover and develop new faces instead of hanging around with Van Khang, Thai Son or Viktor Le... mentioned.
That is the real goal that Mr. Kim Sang Sik must aim for in the coming time, even more important than successfully defending the championship title of U23 Vietnam.
