U23 Vietnam returns to training, preparing for the semi-final match of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament

VHO - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said that on the evening of July 23, the Vietnam U23 team had a training session at the Gelora Bung Karno complex's auxiliary field, Jakarta (Indonesia) to prepare for the semi-final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship against the Philippines U23.

U23 Vietnam leads Group B with 2 wins, 6 points and will meet U23 Philippines, the team that entered the semi-finals as the second-placed team with the best record.

The players returned to practice to prepare for the semi-finals.

Having just played a match with U23 Cambodia, coach Kim Sang-sik divided the players into two groups to adjust the appropriate amount of exercise.

The starting players only did some cool-down and recovery exercises. The remaining players continued with intensive training, focusing on small-group coordination, ball control and shooting.

Information from the medical department said that the U23 Vietnam team did not have any unfortunate injuries.

Defender Ly Duc - who was injured after a collision in the match with U23 Cambodia, was checked and did not have any serious problems.

Before the training session, midfielder Nguyen Xuan Bac - who was arranged by coach Kim Sang-sik to play in the starting lineup for the first time, shared with the media.

U23 Vietnam tries to prepare best for the match with U23 Philippines

Xuan Bac said: “I thank the coaching staff for their trust and giving me the opportunity to play as a starter. I am quite satisfied with my recent performance and will continue to try to prove my ability.”

When asked about some missed scoring opportunities in the match against U23 Cambodia, Xuan Bac frankly admitted: "Not only me, my teammates also had opportunities that they failed to take advantage of.

Coach Kim Sang-sik reminded the whole team to focus on practicing more on finishing ability and to be more confident when having opportunities in front of goal.

As planned, tomorrow afternoon, July 24, U23 Vietnam will continue training to complete preparations for the semi-final match with U23 Philippines.

This match will take place at 4:00 p.m. on July 25 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
